Why can't they put up a sign: "Hey Birds, Don't Fly Here"?

Among the changes recommended by the California Energy Commission, according to the Times, is painting the turbine blades a different color to make them more visible to birds.

We've all heard the saying, "Blind as an eagle."

The windmills are visible for miles. Why anyone thinks birds can't see them is beyond me. Deer don't get hit by cars because they can't see cars. (If so, they would be running into parked cars.) They get hit because they can't or don't account for the speed and direction the car is moving. I imagine the windmill blades are the same.

That said, I think we should start referring to wind power advocates as "eagle killers," just for fun.

Enviro Naxis won't be happy til you're back in your caves. I think their goal, if in power, would be to emulate Pol Pot and return the US to a "rural paradise".

It's absolutely hilarious that they are now attacking one of their own favorite means of power production. Of course the real goal is to do away with all power production.

"When you turn on your lights you kill something, no matter what the source of electricity,"

We're all doomed!

Since these wind generators are not economically viable without taxdollar subsidy, this is a situation of doing the right thing for the wrong reason.

I keep flicking my light switch in the hope that I might contribute to the demise of a liberal thought.

The solution is obvious, hire all of those homeless folks in San Fran and give them shotguns. If they kill the birds before the birds fly into the blades, the environmentalists cannot be blamed for the bird deaths and the homeless have something to put in the soup pot.

It's a win win situation.

Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from this list.

This little side effect of wind power has been known ever since the things were first put into operation.

Why complain now?
