Why can't they put up a sign: "Hey Birds, Don't Fly Here"?

But...but...but how do they know they aren't saving the life of some rare vole, mouse or other small woodland creature that would be eaten by the big bad birds? Then again the explosion of rodents may be eating some endangered flower or bug. Jeez, it's not easy being green.
