He reached into his pocket and took out a coin. He told the President: I ate Thanksgiving dinner with your father in Kuwait 10 years ago right before we jumped, and I gave him one of these. Now I want you to have this one. The President grabbed him and gave him a huge bear hug- flashbulbs popped. So if you see a picture of the President hugging some random old guy, thats General Tant. Have to find out more about the coin
there has to be more of a story there
.I have heard that some divisions have their own "regimental coin" which is given out as a sign that you are a friend of theirs. This could be what it is.

Thank you for the post and pings! (^: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After he finished his remarks, the President stepped into the crowd, and greeted people for over an hour. Actually more like two hours. He shook everyones hand- and made a point of it. He would see someone getting pushed aside and say Hey Sanchez, Im headed your way. And the guys loved him. Adored him. Because they could see he was their guy.
He shook my hand, too!

Encore, it was for the troops, ping!

We thank you for your service, we're proud of you, and America stands solidly behind you. That's all Hillary had to say and nobody would be criticizing her. But for her that's not what it's all about. Speaks volumes.

THANK YOU!! It's great to see that at least some of the troops KNOW that we are behind them!! I sure hope the ones Hitlery spoke to know where she was coming from and discredited her load of manure just like we do. I could just wring her scrawny little neck for blathering that treasonous poison to our heroic troops! Idiot! (Can you tell what I think of her or should I continue!??? LOL!!)

Darn. This is a good read and agrees with the few others who wrote about their experiences of having Thanksgiving with President Bush. However, when are we going to hear from those who were with Hillary, those troops that were "glad to see myself," or whatever it was she said, in Afghanistan or the following day in Iraq. When are we going to get to read one of THEIR stories? Have they been sworn to secrecy?
I'd also like to know what that soldier asked her. "I couldn't lie to that young man." That one.
