Re: Complaint emailed to FoxNews Tonight
Posted on 12/07/2003 6:11:22 PM PST by annyokie
To anyone in the FoxNews Division who has an ounce of decorum:
Would you please instruct your news reader's to preface their commentary when speaking of the President to show the proper respect and to say President Bush (regardless whom it might be), not "Bush"........
A terrible example for our kids and it's not too hot for the adults either, most recent example was this evening on Fox Reports by Laurie "what's her name" !!
Yes I am a Republican and it does not help my attitude towards your network when YOUR readers say "President Clinton", as I do by the way and so should all of you whether you like the SOB or not is immaterial and in the next sentence say "BUSH" as your spitting out something vile!!
Sincerely,
Archdean

Has everyone else had enough of hearing our President refered to (in a spitting tone) as "BUSH"?
We have. We even referred to x42 as "President Clinton", painful as that was.
Join us in alerting FoxNews.

I agree.

Engage Brian Before Speaking and Reporting! Are you referring to Kilmeade or Wilson ;-)
Seriously, I agree with you 100%. It grates on me when it seems that they just can't bring themselves to say "President Bush". As much as I like Wendell Goler, he is notorious for this :-(

You typed Brian instead of Brain. But all in all that is a damn good letter. Such disrespect shown to the President should be considered treason.

Speaking of which, and pardon the vanity, but along time ago in a far away land when I lived in LurkerVille I bookmarked a site that had a hilarious cartoon about the Smurf's and all their bases belonging to us or some such hilarity. It no longer works, does anyone have a good link to this?
This is what I had:

Agree with you. I do choke somewhat when I need to refer to Clintoon as President Clintoon. Frankly, it galls me to even refer to him being prez.

"Engage Brian Before Speaking and Reporting!" Who's Brian? And who got engaged to him?

it does not help my attitude towards your network when YOUR readers say "President Clinton", That would be Governor Clinton. If we want to get technical.

I don't think Fox can engage Brian before speaking. They're not based in MA or VT.

Actually .. the proper reference when speaking ABOUT a former president, is to say "former President X".
However, when speaking to a former president in person, it is still proper to refer to him as just "President X".
Okay .. everybody got that!
