I got mine the day after Thanksgiving. I've gotten one every year of his Presidency. The First card was as his last year as governor of Texas. I always feel honored when I get it...even though I know it's one of a million mailed. I still feel honored.

I don't mind telling you that I shed a few tears as I read your response.
As soon as you said he is serving and that it "is going to be hard for you...." well, as a Vet, and as a parent I admit it grabbed some heartstrings.
I'm a pretty tough person under normal circumstances, and we've both seen a lot (see our profile page). But we have a soft spot in our hearts for the troops and their families.
We both want you to know that your son is a hero to us. But so are you and your family. We never forget what the families endure during war.
We feel the same way about this Commander in Chief as you do. Who he is matters!! While we serve no matter who the Commander in Chief is when we are in the service, it sure helps when you respect him. The troops respect this Commander in Chief. When you may give your life under his Command, it matters!
Tell your son that when we are walking around with our grandchildren and they see someone in uniform, they run up to them and thank them for serving. You would think they saw a movie star, in fact, they wouldn't KNOW a movie star, but they know a troop!! They get so nervous and so excited! :o)
We do know how hard this time of the year is for all of you, we've been through simular times. Just know that you are in our prayers.
Tom Brokaw wrote a book called "The Greatest Generation". But it should have been titled "One" of The Greatest Generations". Because he didn't know about this one yet!
Your son makes us so proud. You must be ready to burst with pride.
I know that won't take away the pain of missing him, but I hope it helps a little to know that others love him too, and other Vets are saying "Job Well Done!".
We thank GOD for him. We pray to God for protection over him, and to bring him home safely and soon. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ who shed His blood for all of us.
Please keep us posted on how he is doing. Let us know when he is coming home, K?

They probably do NOT!!
Lets ping them!!
HOLIDAY = HOLY DAY
Lets make sure you understand what ohioWfan and I are trying to tell you.
The MEANING of HOLIDAY "IS" HOLY DAY!!!
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
Hey! You passed religion 101! Good going!
Now try to remember what we are celebrating on the holy day.
BTW, I'm guessing you know the meaning of Holy, but maybe not, that was in religion 201. If not, scurry to google and find out. LOL

I agree!! It's a BEAUTIFUL Chrismas card.
BTW,.. ohioWfan pointed out HOLIDAY means HOLY DAY. Also, her son is serving in the desert this Christmas. It would be nice if we could all give a shout out to her and her family. :o)
President Bush is an AWESOME Commander in Chief. God Bless him and his lovely First Lady. That we have a man of God in the White House is wonderful. What a refreshing wonderful change from the last 8 years!!
To: Protagoras
Then why are you so confused by the Presidents Christmas card? Why are you complaining so much about it? Is it just because you like to nag??
Go somewhere else to rain on people who are happy. We used to call people like you sourpusses.
Instead, I'll just pray for you.
God Bless!!
Oh.. and I'm still waiting to hear who you think would be better suited to be President than President Bush. Give me a NAME. Not an ideology.. but a NAME!! FOR 2004!!!
Thanks.

Lets make sure you understand what ohioWfan and I are trying to tell you.
Look, you and I know that Bush, with his "holiday" card, is following the same path as the public schools that don't allow "Christmas" to be mentioned; just like Bush, they use "holiday" instead. The reason -- to keep the name of Christ out of view. It's called PC. Too bad Bush doesn't have the courage to buck it.
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
He has UNASHAMEDLY proclaimed the Lords name and proclaimed his faith.
Not with this "holiday" card. That's my only point. Nobody can honestly call it a Christmas card when it doesn't mention Christ or Christmas. Do you also believe the public schools are intending to celebrate "Christmas" when they ban all use of the word "Christmas" and substitute "holiday" or "season's greetings" or "winter break"? Give ME a break!
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
Go somewhere else to rain on people who are happy.
I'm glad you're happy. But please don't be dishonest. Calling a card a "Christmas card," when it makes no mention of Christ or Christmas, is dishonest or illiterate.
To: Sally'sConcerns
Whew, we can't let these Grinches steal Christmas from us
The people who are stealing Christmas are the people who refuse to mention Christ or Christmas in their cards or in their greetings. Why is Bush following their example?
To: ohioWfan
precisely BECAUSE he is such a strong Christian
My issue is with this card. He has a perfect right to send it out, but it's dishonest for anyone to call it a "Christmas card," because it's not. It makes no mention of Christmas or of Christ - - or of "the reason for the season." I believe in keeping Christ in Christmas, and someone who refuses to use the word Christmas is obviously not helping to keep Christ in this celebration of this season.
To: churchillbuff; ohioWfan
President Bush is the president of *all* people. This includes those of other faiths. His card used a lovely scripture with great meaning, both historically and scripturally.
Have you seen the news coverage or read the transcripts of Bush's speeches with clear reference to Jesus Christ? If you have, do you discount those references by saying he didn't use the right voice inflection? Seems that there are some on FR who don't believe Bush could ever be 'orthodox enough' for them. There are those who would take every opportunity to bash President Bush no matter WHAT he did or said.
Please, conduct a search on past presidential cards to see if ANY have added scripture to them. President Bush has used scripture in each Christmas card since elected.
To: Cinnamon Girl
**Some people are pointing out that this isn't actually a Christmas card. That's true in the sense that it was sent to plenty of Jews (myself included) and it was non-specific about which holiday one would be celebrating. **
President Bush is president of *all* people..of all faiths. Happy Chanukah!
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
**The MEANING of HOLIDAY "IS" HOLY DAY!!!**
Yep! I just had this conversation with a checker at the grocery store. She lamented that the store didn't have Merry Christmas on the bags. I told her that holiday is actually Holy Day and to celebrate it. Big smile from her. :o)
To: mrs tiggywinkle
Sorry, it just disheartens me that Christ is more and more being removed from public acknowledgements of the "holiday."
To: churchillbuff
Maybe because President Bush is the President of all the people in the United States and not just the Christians? There's nothing to keep a Hindu, a Muslim or any other religion from becoming President. If they were to send out cards on their important religous dates, would you not be upset?

Maybe because President Bush is the President of all the people in the United States and not just the Christians?
Well, then let's just cut through the cr-p and abolish Christmas as a national holiday. That's the logic of your words. If the president can't -- or won't --- mention Christmas because a small minority of Americans aren't Christians, then what is the justification for having Christmas (and not Kwanza, or Ramadan, or Hannuka, or Solstice) as an official national holiday? The fact is, this is a Christian country in the same way that Pakistan is a Moslem country - - i.e., the vast majority of people here are Christians, and it was founded by Christians. It should not be impermissible to acknowledge that fact.

Who licked the red stripes off a' your Candy Cane??
Sheesh, you'd find fault if the sun rose on time...get over it.
The MAN and his wife included a scripture reference...
MERRY CHRISTMAS,
