A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Oh Maggie, as ever, you have hit the nail on the head and what a question - we all know the answer to that one, don't we?

It is white. Okay. I thought the green color may have come from the lighting.
Actually, I don't care what color it is. I just can't wait to get mine.

Thank you for your comments on what I posted about Pearl Harbor, comparing 9/11 with it.
Sometimes, though, it is difficult to juggle emotionally the two so different times, trying to make sense of how and why this happened.
I surely passed on my values and perspective to my three children, as they are doing with theirs.
The communism threats of the Cold War have morphed into a watered down thing called plain socialism.
Does anyone else remember that during the Nam Era when Bill Clinton was a Rhodes scholar, his protesting in England against it?
Do you remember also he went home with his friend from Czechoslovakia and they stayed with his Mama for a while?
And that Dear Old Mama just happened to be the Head of the Czech Communist Party?!
And then Bill went from there to Moscow for a time - all of this when the Soviet Union was still considered our enemy??!!
Think of Hillary with similar ideas, and all their cronies and supporters, whose ideas and ideals are now the backbone of the Democratic Party....
Enough to make you afraid - very afraid - except for the Power of our God, Who alone can help us turn the tide if we beseech Him with joined prayers for the sake of our Nation and families.

Your reason for the season is so appropriate for what I am about to share!!
Just received in e-mail from a dear friend of 31 years, the following:
'T'was the night before Christmas
and all through the town
Not a sign of Baby Jesus
was anywhere to be found.
No one sang "Away in a manger,
no crib for a bed".
Instead, they sang of Santa
dressed up in bright red.
Mama watched Martha Stewart,
Papa drank beer from a tap.
As hour upon hour
the presents they'd wrap
When what from the T.V.
did they suddenly hear?
'Cept an ad.. which told
of a big sale at Sears.
So away to the mall
they all flew like a flash...
Buying things on credit...
and others with cash!
And, as they made their way home
From their trip to the mall,
Did they think about Jesus?
Oh, no... not at all.
Their lives were so busy
with their Christmas time things
No time to remember
Christ Jesus, the King.
There were presents to wrap
and cookies to bake.
How could they stop and remember
who died for their sake?
To pray to the Savior...
they had no time to stop.
Because they needed more time
to "Shop til they dropped!"
On Wal-mart! On K-mart!
On Target! On Penney's!
On Hallmark! On Zales!
A quick lunch at Denny's
From the big stores downtown
to the stores at the mall
They would dash away, dash away,
and visit them all!
And up on the roof,
there arose such a clatter
As grandpa hung icicle lights
from his brand new step ladder.
He hung lights that would flash.
He hung lights that would twirl.
Yet, he never once prayed to Jesus...
Light of the World.
Christ's eyes... how they twinkle!
Christ's Spirit... how merry!
Christ's love... how enormous!
All our burdens... He'll carry!
So instead of being busy,
overworked, and uptight
Let's put Christ back in
Christmas and enjoy
some good nights!
Merry Christmas, my friends!
Timely, eh?
And sad indeed that The Child seems to be given a secondary thought, if at all....

Hi Billie, lovely sistahs and finest friends. Hated being AWOL since Thursday. Got home late yesterday from a conference... Thankfully managed a lot of Christmas shopping while there. My two nephews gave me ONE DAY of labor for Christmas last year....finally called in the chips today and they did all our outside lights...Mr. D. has a major cold and couldn't help WHICH I think they loved. They are 17 and 15 and had a blast being creative and unsupervised...Plus we are about an hour north of them and had a big snow Friday...they haven't had it yet...and still today was warm and sunny. Got them "in the mood!"
We have the whole family Christmas here in two weeks so they can show off their "creation"! We've already had three neighbors call who are thoroughly impressed!
Billie...your Friday thread was way too cool!
((((((brotha Louie))))))So glad you are "sort of" back. Continued prayers for a speedy recovery.
Unfortunately have lots of work work to attend to....the next two weeks are my busiest ever...If I'm not here personally, know I'm here in spirit!

Saw some posts about a January get together. WOULD LOVE IT... I am definately tied up in January on Thurs. the 8th, Wed. the 14th and Tues the 20th and 27th. Aside from that. I'll try to look back at what days others said were good. The last two Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays work for me....(assuming Billie or the other Finest hostesses agree to cover if I have a thread that day...I am the eternal procrastinator!)
I live closer than most of you...so you name the place and I'll be there....We were at a conference in Columbus all weekend but not near the "sniper" area...although I admit to being a little nervous on 270 at all. Hope we can work this out.

Be advised Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. EST, HGTV will present
Christmas At The White House !!
It appears Laura Bush will be guiding the tour,
and should be a real treat!
Hope you can get this on cable television...

The term even small children of that day knew well were quislings, or fifth columnists. GRRRRRR on quislings and fifth columnists.
To: humblegunner
"GRRRRRR on quislings and fifth columnists." It was surprising how many there were, disrupting the production and/or delivery of goods from war manufacturing plants, trying to cripple the flow of materials to the fighting front.

There are laws against treason then and now.
That behavior is clearly treason... then and now.
