She said that Bush, who campaigned as a "compassionate conservative" in 2000, had taken a "hard-right turn to pursue an extremist agenda" after moving into the White House.

A hard right turn??

HAHAHAHAHA .. Yea right

Thsi probably raised the hair on her back when she said it.

Her shrill klaxon-like voice comes through in every word.

Clinton blasts Bush for trying to 'undo New Deal'

By CLAY ROBISON

AUSTIN -- U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., today blasted President Bush and his "radical" administration for attempting to dismantle the "central pillars of progress in our country during the 20th Century."

Clinton, in an interview with two reporters, said she had become convinced the Republican administration wants "to undo the New Deal," the Roosevelt-era policies that ushered in Social Security and a host of other governmental assistance programs.

She said she was surprised that Bush, who campaigned as a "compassionate conservative" in 2000, had taken such a hard-right turn after moving into the White House.

"I don't know where it came from, but the fact is that this President Bush has not only been radical and extreme in terms of Democratic presidents but in terms of Republican presidents, including his own father," she said.

Clinton, who later signed copies of her book, Living History, for hundreds of people waiting in line at a downtown Austin book store, continued to insist that she won't jump into the race for next year's Democratic presidential nomination.

But she said she believed that Bush was beatable because his administration was "making America less free, fair, strong, smart than it deserves to be in a dangerous world."

"We have to change direction before irreparable harm is done," she added.

"This administration is in danger of being the first in American history to leave our nation worse off than when they found it."

Clinton criticized Bush for policies ranging from health care to environmental protection and energy and suggested the administration had underestimated the commitment necessary to rebuild Iraq.

The wife of former President Bill Clinton, who is serving her first term in the Senate, has been frequently mentioned as a presidential candidate, and some have tried to draft her for 2004.

Clinton, who hasn't ruled out a possible presidential race in 2008, said the talk was "flattering" but insisted, "I just stand on trying to do a good job (in the Senate)."

She has been touring the country, signing copies of her best-selling book as well as raising money for her reelection campaign in 2006 and for other Democratic candidates and causes.

On Thursday night, Clinton attended a fund-raiser for her reelection campaign hosted by Austin advertising executive Roy Spence, a longtime friend of the Clintons.

I don't know if the DAILY attacks on GW by virtually every Senator and all NINE wannabes for POTUS is a coordinated venture but it sure looks like it is. Especially since they have the sychophantic cooperation of all major news sources in America. They seem to be using the SLING ENOUGH MUD ON THE WINDOW and some will stick. It is getting so that I can hardly stand the constant drumbeat of negative attacks. This has to be UNPRECENDENTED! There is NO way conservatives or the GOP could get by with this outrageous behavior.

Hillary in Austin at a fundraiser/book signing doing the same... They are on the run, chasing their tails, not knowing which way to turn next....

I didn't think Hil would run in '04, but her recent statements and greater exposure make me believe she may be changing her mind about running next year. She is going to be on three talk shows this Sunday and her language is becoming more and more strident. Hil could be testing the waters as she assumes the role of chief Dem spokesperson. This is not mere happenstance. The Clintons plan and calculate everything.

If you listen closely to the words, you will hear certain keywords that they all seem to repeat over and over that day. That is from the daily talkingpointsmemo they probably get so they can all be on the same message any given day.

She has been testing the waters for months .. that's why she had this book tour

It's just a different version of the town meeting and listening tour of the past

Amazing, inn't it? Sadly, I doubt there's anyone whose free money has stopped flowing in since Bush took office.
