As you probably have discerned, the lovelies at MoveOn.org have moved-on from their original charter of mewling about "vicious right-wing extremist attacks on President Clinton's personal sex life" to adopt a particularly strident blend of anti-America-ism, hate-Bush-ism, and appeasment of terrorists.
Well. Now through the magic of the Web they have arranged almost 3,000 "house parties" this Sunday at which a propaganda video, "Uncovered: The Whole Truth About the Iraq War" will be shown. You too can sign up to attend or host a house party at http://action.moveon.org/meet/parties.html.
I checked and there are four such parties within ten miles of my suburban home, including one at the local Quaker meeting house. The blurb for one at a home about a mile from me states:
"Please join us for an evening of viewing "Uncovered - the whole truth behind the Iraqi War", discussion and evaluation of the lies that we have been fed over the last year by the Bush administration. Follow-up actions and activities to spread the word will be discussed. Please bring some food/drinks to share with other attendees and meet your "Move-On" neighbors. Please come later, if you cannot make the first screening of the film and the conference call scheduled at 5.30. The party will last till 8 pm at least! NOTE: This is an activist household - Dean for President in 2004 - but feel free to bring any other literature or buttons/bumper stickers you may want to share with others - we have a big tent!"
Clearly these people need a good Freeping.

If anyone does plan to attend, I suggest wearing a t-shirt that says "Censure and move on".
Might also want to bring enough kool-aid for everyone...

MoveOn.org is legally classified as a partisan PAC, they are not a non-profit entity. Their affliation in the coordination of the even reveals the host at the university to be a lying liar.
Take this issue to the local conservative talk radio hosts in your area as well as higher ups at the university and your congressmen.
In addition since it says that it is meant to foster conversation "pro and con" about the "facts" in the film, be prepared with a large group to ask tough questions and point out blatent falsehoods. Prepare for the screening like you would any organized debate. Also you may ask who the university is planning to bring in to take the contrary position. Can't have a biased invite list after all...

That church is jeopardizing their 501c3 non-profit status by hosting this PAC's event.

Anyway, I've contacted our chancellor to ask him to tell the film theater to move the screening off campus. If he won't, I'm going to contact the state Republican chairman. Stay tunedGreat freepin' job. Good luck getting the vermin off University owned property.

Well, Well, Well!!!
I found several churches involved with this bash Bush fest.
A quick review of the IRS 501(3)(c) requirements, of which all churches are categorized to maintain their tax exempt status, states:
"To be tax-exempt as an organization described in IRC Section 501(c)(3) of the Code, an organization must be organized and operated exclusively for one or more of the purposes set forth in IRC Section 501(c)(3) and none of the earnings of the organization may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate at all in campaign activity for or against political candidates."
When you search for these churches on the M-O site, search the page (Using Ctrl-F) for the word "church". We need to call or write to them tonight or tomorrow and read the above IRS requirement to them, and tell them we will monitor compliance. If they respond by saying "Bush is not a candidate yet" ask them if they can prove that to the IRS in court.

Take this issue to the local conservative talk radio hosts in your area as well as higher ups at the university and your congressmen.I contacted Steve Lundy, a local host who is moderate/conservative, and also the state GOP. I can't make it to their little movie, unfortunately, but on the other hand I think to attend it would be to reinforce the case that this is not a partisan event.
To: HighWheeler
Yep, but this is just another area (like election fraud), where Ashcroft is in the MoveOn mode.

Good luck getting the vermin off University owned propertyContact your local state senator and complain. I've written to the OWH, the LJS, Steve Lundy of KLIN, and the state GOP. UNL is a little gunshy right now, because of the budget; when you contact your senator, cc it to Harvey Perlman, the chancellor.

The ProtestWarrior.com link didn't work. Something about it not being on this server.
The only MoveOn.org party that came up within 70 miles of my zipcode was on Hermitage Ave. in Knoxville, TN.

Thanks for the info, and I will cc Harvey Perlman.
I've no doubt one of Michigan's liberal hell schools will be doing the same.
Now I've got to get busy.

I don't know if I'd want to be at a house party with these unwashed hippies, when the cops come busting in for the drug bust you'll get nailed too. And besides for all their peace talk they are a pretty violent bunch when they hear the truth.

That church is jeopardizing their 501c3 non-profit status by hosting this PAC's event. Do you happen to know whose juristiction it would be to conduct an investigation into these "church's" funding. In particular any Federal/State funds received. Would it be up to local authorities?
