Video Captures Canine Seeking Shelter Inside Family Car
Members of the Leroy family in Washington thought they were the target of a prankster when they kept finding a stray dog inside their parked car.
Intent on catching the culprit, they set up a video camera to record the vehicle.
However, they were surprised at what they caught on film.
The video captured the dog as she opened the car door on her own and climbed inside.
The family is now circulating posters of the dog and has contacted the local Humane Society.
So far, no one has claimed the canine.

Look, officer, I just came along and the car doors were open.
The cat did it, I saw a cat, it was running away.
I was just guarding the car for my masters.
In case that cat came back.
You know, the cat that opened the door.
The guilty cat, as opposed to me, the innocent dog.

This dog better not be a stray any more.
And they better name him Hairy Houdini.

But I doubt you'll get the chance. This dog is total David Letterman material.

But, can The Boogie reach the pedals?
He'll have to have the cat help him.

Well, y'see, officer, in this frame, I'm trying to close the door.
The cat's behind the door so you can't quite make it out.
But he and I are struggling, y'see.
Because I'm trying to protect my master's car.
Against that guilty, guilty, guilty cat who opened the doors.
Who you can't quite see in this picture.
But it's there.
Opening car doors.
As opposed to me, who's closing them.
Y'see.

OH, no, officer, you don't understand!
Those diabolically clever cats borrowed a dog suit to make it look like I opened the car! I tell you, they'll stop at nothing!

I can understand this family's consternation.
We have a cat who can open any door in the house if it's not locked. This can be a problem at times and an embarrassment at others. As he is an indoor cat, we have to remember to keep a latch on the outside doors and doors locked we don't want opened at inopportune times. Fortunately, he doesn't show a lot of interest in going outside as sleeping on the screened porch seems to satisfy his outside hunger and he is an indoor cat.
It's fortunate most animals don't have fingers.

I remember that one.
And this one: The male dog shows up at his date's house with flowers in paw. The female says, "I don't what you rolled in, but it sure smells good."
"I don't know what you rolled in, but it sure smells good."

Good thing it wasn't a pack of crazed Pomeranians, could have been some serious heel bites.
To: Palmetto
FWIW, the car appears to be a '92-'97 Ford Taurus. Given the size of the door, I was guessing Ford Crown Victoria, same era.

Most dogs are smarter than people. Don't ask him what he was doing. He probably won't tell you.
To: Palmetto
No, on second thought, I think you're right.
