Al Queda Warning
MEMRI ^ | 11/26/03

Posted on 12/01/2003 11:43:30 AM PST by Mossad1967

A SOURCE CLOSE TO AL-QA'IDA SAID THAT 'THE HOLY WARRIORS HAVE COMPLETED THE PREPARATORY STAGE AND STARTED THE COUNTDOWN FOR THE EXECUTION OF AN ATTACK INSIDE THE UNITED STATES.' THE SOURCE CLAIMED THAT THE NEXT ATTACKS WILL CAUSE AMERICA 'TO LOSE CONTROL OF ITSELF AND THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH ITS ARMY.' HE AGAIN URGED MUSLIMS IN AMERICA TO LEAVE IF THEY DID NOT WISH TO DIE. (AL-SHARQ AL-AWSAT, LONDON, 11/26/03)

Unless they launched it off a cargo ship 50 miles off shore.

Depends on what you mean by "come back". You don't have to exterminate roaches to prevent them from bothering you. I fact it's impossible to exterminate them. It is possible not to feed them in the places where you live.

"The UN, if it sends foreign troops in to take our guns, will start a war they cannot win - it will indeed be tragic and, with their body armour and equipment, intially lopsided in casualty ratio (until we start using the equipment we have taken off their dead bodies against them), but they cannot subdue us - we WILL triumph."

And considering how wishy-washy the UN has been of late, it may not even come to that. Doubt they would have the stomach to deal with a few guerilla-style killings.

While the validity of the source MEMRI is quoting is questionable of course, however, one should not question MEMRI, which is a respectable organization.

Another headline from the MEMRI ticker

http://www.memri.org/ticker.html

A TURKISH MEMBER OF THE 'FRONT OF MUJAHIDEEN FOR ISLAMIC MIDDLE EAST' SAID THE TERRORIST ACTS IN ISTANBUL WERE 'TRIVIAL' COMPARED WITH THE REAL 'DAY OF SLAUGHTERING' WHICH IS FORTHCOMING. (AL-SHARQ AL-AWSAT, LONDON, 12/1/03)

Thanks for the ping Calpernia. Just back from vacation and I see our friends are still as vocal as ever. Just glad nothing too serious has happened. I get a sense that there's been a whole lot happening behind the scenes that we're not aware off.

BTW - thanks to all of you for the pings. I really appreciate it.

An earlier reprot from Al-Awsat from back in March 2002 :

Islamist Sources: 400 Arab-Afghans Reached Northern Iraq
The Middle East Research Institute | 3/06/02 | Unknown

Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported that "Sources close to the [Islamist] fundamentalist movement in London said that 400 'Arab-Afghans' crossed the Iranian and Turkish borders into Iraq ten days ago [third week in February]. These informed sources told Al-Sharq Al-Awsat in a phone conversation, that the 'Arab-Afghans'… may participate in suicide missions against the American forces when the land war starts and that some Al-Qa'ida leaders were among those who arrived in northern Iraq…"

(My note : These were Zarqawi's buddies. Many of them got aced when the US invaded in 2003 and took out their camp- they weren't Afghan, thouigh, they were just Arabs and some Pakistanis for the most part.)

This administration made a brilliant move by taking Iraq. We are positioned to strike Syria, Iran, etc.

With what? Our military is waaaay overextended as it is. We never should've halved our military in the 1990s.

I even believe that it is creating a decoy to centralize terrorists.

Agreed. I believe it was Mark Steyn who called it "carefully hung flypaper." Our soldiers can't hunt down the terrorists in Iran, Yemen, Syria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, etc. But the presence of the U.S. military in Iraq is drawing them to us. Brilliant, IMO.

we own the Middle East now

I'm not as optimistic about this as you are...yet.

Going after innocent Muslims because we can't find AlQuada members is sick. An American Muslim family is no more to blame for AlQuada than an American-German family was to blame for Hitler.

Our American military can take out cities and countries, and they will if needed. I trust their judgment.

I would stand in the door to protect my innocent Muslim neighbors from any mob. My family fought in every war this county has had, but we don't go after innocent unarmed neighbors.

I believe in justice. But I believe their purpose is clear- destroy the United States. And by using our freedoms against us, they may very well do this if open season begins on Muslims here in the US.

Being a non-military background person, this was the biggest I could come up with, but I will gladly bow to your suggestion and superior knowledge. The bigger the better as far as I am concerned. That and stealth.... :)

A nuclear explosion need not occur in orbit to be potentially damaging. Any country with the ability to launch an intermediate-range ballistic missile — Pakistan, for example — is capable of lofting a nuclear warhead to the altitude needed to cause damage to satellites. According to space policy analyst Henry Spencer, “...[N]uclear explosions can badly damage satellites even at very long range... the X-ray pulse -- which carries much of the energy of a bomb exploded in vacuum... kicks up ionization in the outer surface of [a given] satellite, and the resulting electrical phenomena are quite destructive... A large nuclear explosion -- or a bunch of small ones -- anywhere within, say, the Earth-Moon system could wreak havoc with all satellites within line of sight.” In other words, a hypothetical terrorist group could launch a nuclear missile stright up into space and “zap” every satelllite above the horizon of its warhead at the time of its explosion. By carefully timing their launch, these terrorists could poke a big hole in, say, a GPS or MilStar constellation.

These warnings seem to be of the "boy who cried wolf" kind. Al-Queda is trying to make us insensitive to terror threats by constantly issuing them so that when we see the warning signs of the real attack we won't be paying attention anymore.

So would I. And that's why I think actions such as targeting Muslims, any Muslims, would destroy our country and what we believe in.
