Nov. 29 (Bloomberg) -- U.S.-trained Iraqi police may have taken part in some of the attacks on U.S. and Iraqi targets, the Associated Press reported, citing U.S. Army Lieutenant General Ricardo Sanchez.
Attacks on U.S. troops and others in northern Iraq have increased in the past month. Last week, Major General David Petraeus, the 101st Airborne's commander, said Iraqi resistance was increasing. Guerrillas have launched more than 150 attacks on Iraqi civilian and police targets, the AP said, citing Sanchez.

There isn't any evidence that Al-Qaeda hasn't taken part in the attacks, either.

I would expect there would be moles in the new Iraqi police force. After all much of the records of the Baathist regime were destroyed in either the bombing or looting of government offices. I bet it's rather difficult to run background checks.

Well, it should be easy to determine a mole. Just fire a gun near his head . . . . oh wait, that was tried and it worked, but it got an officer referred for court martial.

Gee, won't the General's remarks cause emotional distress for the Iraqi policemen? Is that fa-a-a-a-air? Doesn't that violate some PC crap left over from the pukes running things during the Clinton years? Will the General lose his command?

"I would expect there would be moles in the new Iraqi police force. After all much of the records of the Baathist regime were destroyed in either the bombing or looting of government offices. The "moles" were protected by the "weasels" who destroyed the Saddam regime police records.
Without the records, we now do not know who to keep from placing in positions of power and authority.
You would think these people would grasp this chance to come clean and begin a new life. Instead, they are clinging on to their old life of crime and terrorism.

"Will the General lose his command?" Did Lt Col West get court martialled?
Answer: NO
(I'm with you on this though, we need to let our troops get tough - tougher in fact than their enemies. In fact, so tough that the enemy understands that unless they accept democracy and forsake their old lifestyles of subversion, terrorism, and torture, they are going to meet the same fate as Saddam's two sons.)
