In a demoralizing message to U.S. soldiers serving in Iraq, visiting New York Sen. Hillary Clinton told them that Americans back home are growing increasingly skeptical of President Bush's decision to send them into battle.
Describing two meetings with G.I.s over turkey dinners in Baghdad, Sen. Clinton told reporters later that soldiers wanted to know "how the people at home feel about what we are doing."
Clinton said she told the troops, "Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies."
She also suggested that the U.S. could eventually loose the war in Iraq, contending, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured."
Despite her sour pronouncements, the former first lady insisted that the soldiers were just as glad to see her as they were President Bush, whose surprise visit less than 24-hours earlier was greeted with standing ovations.
"It's a positive for the commander-in-chief to visit troops in the field," Clinton told reporters, adding, "the troops [also] seemed to appreciate seeing myself."
Speaking from a secure location just over the Kuwaiti border, Mrs. Clinton launched one verbal salvo after another at the White House, arguing that Bush officials had been "obsessed" with getting Saddam Hussein and saying the perception blinded them to the difficulties of deposing his regime.
"The Pentagon tried to make do with as few troops as possible, as light a footprint as they could get away with," Clinton said. "Now, we're playing catchup . . . Unfortunately, I don't think they fully appreciated the conditions we would encounter."
The top Democrat also reprised her charge that the White House is being less than candid when it comes to apprising the American people of the costs of the war.
"The obstacles and problems here are much greater than the administration usually admits to," she said, adding, "Everybody has to be honest."

Well, so far I've e-mailed Sen. Voinocich and Sen. Roberts and "herself". I called her a viper to her slave's face. To the sens. this is what I sent:
Dear Sen. xxxxx, as a member of the Ethics Committee you should censor Sen. clinton for her treasonous comments to our troops in Afganistan and Iraq. I am more than outraged. How dare she demoralize our young men and women by suggesting that the American people are not behind them, and that the outcome of the war they are fighting is in doubt! I have not been so angry since jane fonda went to Hanoi and blew off at the mouth. This woman is beyond enduring. Do something!

If the US Attorney General actually followed his oath of office
hitlery would not be "visiting" our troops.
She would be in prison for her crimes and "speaking" with fellow inmates.
To: nwrep
"Al Jazeera is having a field day using her comments against our occupation." FIGURES!
I was doing some research on Viet Nam a while ago- and came across a speech given by a Viet Cong General long after the war- talking about how the American media was the best propaganda tool they had, and helped convice gullible young people over here who demonstrated against their own government.
At least Saddam's media knows which side they are on- can't say the same for the NYT, etc.

I know this may sound like nitpicking, but the proper term is "censure", not "censor". "Censor" is to prevent someone from saying something. "Censure" is to formally rebuke someone for a past action, which is certainly what you intended to suggest. Of course, had someone had censored Hillary beforehand, there would be no need for censure now...

Good post.
"I think history taught them nothing."
It's all part of the liberal plan, public schools and their version of history. I don't have the direct communist quote, but something along the lines, if you can indoctrinate the kids, you will control the country. The constitution is discussed, but not taught.

It is time this woman is held accountable once and for all. Americans must make sure it happens. She must be removed from the Senate. Al Jezeera is now using her comments against us? Is that enough for everyone?
To: thesummerwind
This is an outright lie!A real issue must be made of this especially for the sake of the troops and at the same time to trash any possibility of her getting elected or re-elected.By trying to demoralize the troops she is giving aid and comfort to the enemy.DA*N THE "SICKSTIES"!!
To: MEG33
She cannot be tried on treason but it looks like she can be gotten on violation of the Sedition Act.
Personally I think it is treason but from I can find in research it doesn't classify as treason but I would like a lawyer on her to tell me why she cannot be charged with violation of the Sedition Act.
IMO, she needs to be referred to the Ethics Committee, removed from Armed Services, removed from the Senate, and referred to DOJ for charges under the Sedition Act.
As far as I am concerned from this day forward, any loss of life in Iraq or Afghanistan or by terrorist action is on her hands after giving aide and comfort to our terrorist enemies.
