[history]
A "Shield of Strength" hung on the chain around Capt. Russell B. Rippetoe's neck when the Army Ranger and two other soldiers were killed in a car bomb explosion at an Iraqi checkpoint.
The 1-by-2-inch shield, which Capt. Rippetoe wore along with his military dog tags and a Christian cross, displayed a U.S. flag on one side and a quote from Joshua 1:9 on the other: "I will be strong and courageous. I will not be terrified, or discouraged, for the Lord my God is with me wherever I go."

Watch for the ACLU to launch a lawsuit - soldiers are federal government property after all.

I hope the liberals don't see this thread. How can we allow our secular army to have books in their possession that have the word "God" in them? Where's the ACLU when you need them? We've gotten "God" out of our courthouses, schools, and out of most our history books. So when will they attack the military and demand a separation of church and state?
Hooray for our troops! It's nice to see someone reaching for the Bible instead of pushing it away.

Oh what a beautiful story. Thank you Lord Jesus that we have you to rest on in our times of grief. May you bless and keep the soldiers serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and all over the world. Give the peace that surpasses all understanding to their families and bless our great President George W. Bush. Amen

Ah how beautiful the name of Jesus sounds to a believer's ears. The war is oer the battle is won for this veteran. May many more come to believe and receive a crown of everlasting life.

May God bless these young men who have given up their lives for others.
When my brother went to serve we gave him a scapular, he had it blessed by our priest, and wore it every day. In addition, a lot of his buddies in his unit requested scapulars as well.
May it all be for the Glory of God!
