Bush Thrills Troops, Hillary Doesn't
Newsmax ^ | Thursday Nov. 27, 2003 | Staff

While 600 G.I.s leapt to their feet at the sight of President Bush appearing onstage in Baghdad to praise their service and share their Thanksgiving, soldiers at Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan seemed considerably less enthusiastic to have New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in their midst.

"The G.I.s here at the Bagram base were reasonably excited, I think it's fair to say, to see the former first lady," reported Fox News Channel's Geraldo Rivera.

But in the next breath Rivera added, "They were even more impressed with their turkey dinner."

An African-American female G.I. seconded the Fox reporter's assessment, agreeing that the food was more of a morale booster than Mrs. Clinton. Another female soldier at the table concurred.

Meanwhile, back in Baghdad soldiers couldn't say enough about their encounter with their Commander-in-Chief. "I was totally shocked," one female G.I. told Fox News. "It was a wonderful moment. I think everyone there was so overjoyed just to see the president."

A male soldier told Fox that Bush's visit "really meant a lot to me personally, as I know it did to a lot of the other soldiers, that the Commander-in-Chief was here in person to talk to us on this day when he should be with his family . . . And here in Iraq, the first time ever that a U.S. president's been here."

The New York Democrat has lately taken to accusing President Bush of not appreciating soldiers' sacrifices, and even covering-up battlefield casualties.

Three weeks ago Sen. Clinton secretly visited wounded soliders at Walter Reed Army Hospital, then told Democrats gathered in Iowa that the troops she met were paying the price for Bush's "failed policy" in Iraq.

Clinton also has a spot airing on MSNBC this weekend where she delivers a Thanksgiving message of appreciation to the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If they play the video again, you will see that the soldier sitting to Hitlery's right, was bowed in silent prayer before he ate. During which time, the Beast just kept on running her mouth. Hope the RNC got this.

Notice that there are as many photographers (shadows) as soldiers in that shot.

Anyone in (or who has been in) the military, and who had duty on a holiday, knows that the commanders that think the most of their people, visit them at their posts on a holiday.

Personally, this happened to me a lot. Most brought home cooked food and treats. One even did some maintenance work while my troops and I (4 of us) had some down time to eat a hot meal. He was Col Payne of the 394th ICBMTMS. That was 30 years ago, I still remember it every Thanksgiving.

I saw it again yesterday in Iraq. Its the troops that keep us free, its leadership that helps them succeed. Support from home is vital. Remember the troops!

Dinner with Hillary must be about as comfortable as having foot rot.

Judging from the looks on their faces, most of those soldiers look like they're constipated.

I'd feel better about this article if it came from the New York Times or Washington Post

This source preaches to the choir and thats about it.

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. So why criticize this article just because it comes from Newsmax?

Thank goodness the troops had all their immunizations up to date.

I am glad to see that Hillary's stage grabbing ways didn't pay off for her this time. I'll bet she still doesn't understand, much less care that her visit was an insult to our freedom loving troops. It must of have been a real pain for the troops to eat with a person who is on record for hating all that they stand for.

On the other hand, it must of been a real treat for our troops to be visited by our President who really cares about them and America.

Need I say more?

"One of the most prominent Democrats in the field, Representative Richard A. Gephardt of Missouri, who helped write the Congressional resolution that led to the war, declined to comment on the trip." NY Times Article 11/28

The Dem's new motto: If you don't have anything bad to say about the CIC, then don't say anything at all!

On the table to the left of Hillary I see two opened bottles. Are they sodas? Or wine?

I love it that the article specifies that it's FEMALE soldiers who are concurring that the food was better received than the beast was.

I saw this bit and it gets even better. The first female soldier that Geraldo talked to was a black female soldier!

Actually I think Mrs Clintons, visit did help and boost the moral of the troops she visited, they knew while she was there the terrorist would not attack. Even Al Quida knows who their friends are in congress.

I wonder how the troops in Afghanistan feel about all of this? Sadly, it seems like some people have forgotten them and other troops serving around the world. Perhaps President Bush can visit more of them in the future.

I notice in all the pix that they are eating with plastic flatware. Wouldn't want to take the chance of a real fork being stuck in the pig.

The visit may not have gone well OR she did it secretly because she did not want Bush to visit too and upstage her.

Either way, her trip to afganistan now makes her look like a supporter and a follower.

Also the NYT owns other newspapers and NYT stories and articles are fed to the other papers. It is why they all start to sound alike. (Boston Glove/NYT for example)
