While 600 G.I.s leapt to their feet at the sight of President Bush appearing onstage in Baghdad to praise their service and share their Thanksgiving, soldiers at Bagram Air Force base in Afghanistan seemed considerably less enthusiastic to have New York Sen. Hillary Clinton in their midst.
"The G.I.s here at the Bagram base were reasonably excited, I think it's fair to say, to see the former first lady," reported Fox News Channel's Geraldo Rivera.
But in the next breath Rivera added, "They were even more impressed with their turkey dinner."
An African-American female G.I. seconded the Fox reporter's assessment, agreeing that the food was more of a morale booster than Mrs. Clinton. Another female soldier at the table concurred.
Meanwhile, back in Baghdad soldiers couldn't say enough about their encounter with their Commander-in-Chief. "I was totally shocked," one female G.I. told Fox News. "It was a wonderful moment. I think everyone there was so overjoyed just to see the president."
A male soldier told Fox that Bush's visit "really meant a lot to me personally, as I know it did to a lot of the other soldiers, that the Commander-in-Chief was here in person to talk to us on this day when he should be with his family . . . And here in Iraq, the first time ever that a U.S. president's been here."
The New York Democrat has lately taken to accusing President Bush of not appreciating soldiers' sacrifices, and even covering-up battlefield casualties.
Three weeks ago Sen. Clinton secretly visited wounded soliders at Walter Reed Army Hospital, then told Democrats gathered in Iowa that the troops she met were paying the price for Bush's "failed policy" in Iraq.
Clinton also has a spot airing on MSNBC this weekend where she delivers a Thanksgiving message of appreciation to the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Sometimes it's good to just be reasonably excited instead of overly excited.

I love it that the article specifies that it's FEMALE soldiers who are concurring that the food was better received than the beast was.
Better watch out Hill, the women's vote may not be as sewn up as you think...you whore.

I'd feel better about this article if it came from the New York Times or Washington Post.
This source preaches to the choir and thats about it.

I think she has that wrong, we the American people including the troops and their families have paid a heavy price (over 3,000 murdered) for the Clinton's "lack" of policy during eight miserable years of looking the other way and extreme liberalism/socialism permeating the government.

Can you blame them. What Mr. President did was amazing. What Hillary did, was only for her own self image.

I loved that; seemed Geraldo was the only one excited to see her;
. . . but he tactfully or unwittingly, made it clear that the 'real turkey scored' and the political turkey did not.

The terrorists might be on the lookout now, but screw 'em.
But I think Vice President Dick Cheney might want to do a repeat of this on Christmas day, to Kabul, Afghanistan for our valiant troops there, too. Get in quickly and quietly under cover of darkness, pump up the local morale, help the troops, serve 'em up some chicken dinners, cause liberal palpitations and suicidal tendencies back on the home front, and then get the hell out of Dodge for the long ride back home. Of course, this is not for lengthy open discussion, but its nice to try to plant some seeds.

This source preaches to the choir and thats about it. Fox News probably hits about as many people as the New York Times. What makes the New York Times more important is that it influences the way the media spins the story. The New York Times is kind of the Talking Points paper for the liberal media.

You are so right, maybe they charged her for that meal, maybe by the Pound? Ole 'Thunder Thighs'.

Brian Lamb, on CSPAN this morning, noted casually that we have yet to see a photograph of the congressman travelling with Hillary. I thought that was an interesting comment.

Can you blame them. What Mr. President did was amazing. What Hillary did, was only for her own self image. Hillary has got a lot of work cut out for her to recreate her imagine in time for the 2008 presidential run. Unfortunately for Hillary, she is gonna have to be somewhat of a hawk in order to win. Of course Hillary is pissing off hardcore Democrats in this process and really hasn't convinced too many people she is tough enough to be President.

I bet she devestated the inside of her plane with a screaming hissy fit when she saw W went to Iraq and she realized her press coverage would be near zero. Too bad the damage was localized to the plane's interior......

"The G.I.s here at the Bagram base were reasonably excited, I think it's fair to say, to see the former first lady," reported Fox News Channel's Geraldo Rivera.I saw this. Coming from Geraldo, I was a little surprised. I guess he has to report the truth, though. And no comments from the troops about how wonderful it was that she chose to spend Thanksgiving with them.
