Quinn to join WJJJ

Jim Quinn, WRRK (96.9 FM) talk show host, and co-host Rose Somma-Tennent will be leaving the Steel City Media classic rock station to join Clear Channel Radio station WJJJ (104.7 FM), according to a senior radio industry executive.

Quinn and Somma-Tennent, who are heard 5:30 to 9 a.m. weekdays on WRRK, will be the new morning show on WJJJ when the station switches from its rhythm and blues oldies format to a hot talk format featuring controversial topics. The change, possibly including new call letters for WJJJ, could happen by January, according to the source.

Quinn is alright, but he's definately one who doesn't allow facts to muddle with his ideological blinders.... My biggest problem with his show is Rose... she's just a whiner. I know she plays straight man to his schmuck on air personal... but frankly I just don't care much for her....


I really don't want to hear about her trapesing through the woods with her girlfriends in their fur coats... or the insipid cell phone calls from her vapuous friends on the air.

Way back in the day, when JQ was just starting on 97 he has a producer named Seargent Fuller, she was a reserve Sgt, she was light hearted and funny, but she didn't take none of his guff, and their dynamic was quite entertaining..... I have never cared for "church lady"... comes across way to prissy for my liking.


However Quinn is definately the biggest local guy AM in the area, and he has a huge following after what now, 10 years or more doing the show. I always knew he could get syndicated... I don't know how he'll play outside the immediate region.... but in the region he definately can carry an audience of regional syndicated size.

1360 guy is a bit too short tempered, and while interesting, the station has horrible reception in a lot of places in the area.

My 2 cents anyway.

I don't know if its the station Rush was at way back when, but she is on a low watt station 1360 on the local dial, and its definately low watt... her time slot is 10-1pm I believe....

She's still ranting and raving like her old kooky self, sponsored by all the Squirrel Hill up scale boutiques and shops... talking about her trips to the beds and breakfasts and how no one she associates with likes Bush or the War.... you really don't have to go any further than see who are the sponsors of her show to see exactly who the raging left largely are in this town.... Overprivaleged up scale limosine liberals who feel guilty and need a way to vent their guilt.

I will give her credit, she keeps ranting and raving the lefts talking points to this day, regardless of the facts.... she is consistent.

Quinn bump ! He started today on 104.7 FM Pittsburgh and 1170 AM in West Virginia !!!! And we here in Pittsburgh are finally going to be able hear Sean Hannity at 3PM !!

Good grief, how did it escape me that WWVA was carrying Quinn? There I was this a.m., trying to hang on to the 104.7 signal on my way into Wheeling for as long as I could! Duh.

Burt is there for "diversity". Actually he seemed to have some common sense the few times I listened to him when home.

Surprised Kellas was canned. I remember back when I went to Wheeling Central in the 80's and he would cover our football games. That was when our rivalry with Park was more important that the state governor's race.

I was in 'Burgh just before Christmas and couldn't find Quinn on the dial.

Did meet Freeper Glenn though and we had coffee and donuts one morning.

My wife and I listened to the Glen Beck Show (he had a sub that week ) on our trip to Columbus. Wish he was on down here.

Thanks for the pint, er, ping! I was skimming comments about Quinn straying from facts, etc -- all I can say is I thanked God for Quinn and Rose when I was there. I always hoped he'd be discovered, and hope this gets him on the way.

I defer to yu'uns longer timers, but we were in tough straits to your NW, and they were voices of sanity to me. Perhaps literally, lol! It helped to hoot and holler with them, get mad at him sometimes, sing out of key . . . it lowered my blood pressure and entertained (and sometimes embarrassed) my family.
