Jim Quinn, WRRK (96.9 FM) talk show host, and co-host Rose Somma-Tennent will be leaving the Steel City Media classic rock station to join Clear Channel Radio station WJJJ (104.7 FM), according to a senior radio industry executive.

Quinn and Somma-Tennent, who are heard 5:30 to 9 a.m. weekdays on WRRK, will be the new morning show on WJJJ when the station switches from its rhythm and blues oldies format to a hot talk format featuring controversial topics. The change, possibly including new call letters for WJJJ, could happen by January, according to the source.

This is good news, because of the expanded reach for his show.

Good move! Quinn and Rose are always having problems with the studio equipment at WRRK because the dope-smoking rock jock maggots keep sabotaging it for them.

I am still waiting for Quinn to admit he was wrong about Y2K. I stopped listening to Quinn & Rose because they were more fast and loose with the facts than even Rush sometimes is.

I don't believe the $500k figure - but Jim needs it to pay off his ex-wives and child support.

Chapter and verse, please.

Wonder why the story mentions only regional syndication, considering how many stations ClearChannel owns nationwide. All the same, I'd be glad to hear Quinn's show on the 50,000 watt WWVA out of Wheeling, if at all possible.

Ditto that. I tried to call to correct him on Y2K when he was ranting about the end of civilization back then and he blew me off and went to a commercial about his Y2K survuival kits. If you're in the Pittsburgh market, listen to Jerry Bowyer on 1360 AM in the mornings. He's a conservative, but much more. He has a show you can learn something from every morning -- history, economics, philosophy -- and not just fumbling reading of yeaterday's NewsMax rants or self-serving kooks like Larry Nickols.

please! I would listen to quinn for the 15 minutes it took me to get from the north hill to dahntahn, and would pick up at least 1 or 2 things that I knew to be wrong - EVERY DAY! Quinn never let facts get in the way of a good story.

And he went wayyyy overboard on the whole Vince Foster stuff too - I think in an effort to get noticed and hopefully lumped into the VRWC. I think he went overboard to the right, and has no problem being in with the tin-foil hat, John Birch Society, blame the Tri-lateral Commission types.

And how many times has he been married at this point? Not an exemplar of conservative family values.....

This is great news! Quinn kicks the doors in on talk radio. He is very well spoken, excellent sense of humor and drives the liberals freaking crazy! WRRK (albeit I love the station), doesn't have the reach that someone like Quinn deserves.

If you haven't heard or listened to Quinn, check out his daily archives, you just might get hooked.

I am still waiting for Quinn to admit he was wrong about Y2K.

I've heard him do it several times. Usually making fun of himself.

I stopped listening to Quinn & Rose because they were more fast and loose with the facts than even Rush sometimes is. Bull! He goes where others do not, especially Rush. He's funny, smart, on the right side, and is a very good guy. I think you are WRONGO, no, I know you are wrong! He has stuck his neck out so many times for the truth to get out, I am amazed he's still around. OKC is just one example. He and David Schippers and Jayna Davis and others have been ignored, but the truth is the truth. If you want some truth with a boatload of great humor, listen to Quinn. He's THE BEST!

Fort Marcy Park for those who don't get it. ;)

Maybe you should look it up, and you may not look so foolish.

This is great news for this country. The more citizens hear this guy, the better this nation will become.

Among other things, there is no one in this country (maybe T. Sowell and Walter Williams-black by popular command, and a very handsome man) who so simply and correctly explains the greatness and benefit of capitalism. He is an extremely honest guy!

One week of listening to his show, and I would think, any mentally able conservative would listen for as long as possible in the future. He is by far the best in the business, and not that it should matter that much, he has a superior radio voice.

BTW, one of his most important strong suits is his willingness to take some heat from callers. He is modest and self-depricating, and is very willing to mix it up. There is NO ONE better, IMO. He is the consummate pro, and his Rodney Dangerfield imitation sounds more like Rodney than Rodney! No respect!

Quinn does a good job of explaining the virtues of capitalism and our constitutional republic form of govt., and exposing the lies of the liberals. Yes, he went overboard on Y2K - and did admit his error - and gives too much airtime to conspiracy nuts like Larry Nichols, but overall he fills a void in Pgh. radio. There are plenty of morning shows filled with fluff, chat and silliness, but Jim and Rose provide a lot info that the average (non-freeper) listener might not get elsewhere.

Jerry Bowyer on 1360 AM in the mornings.

Jerry is very intelligent but he's an impatient scold who has a short fuse. I remember when Pat Buchanan got the best of him about a year ago when interviewed, and the weak-kneed Bowyer waited until the next day to try to try to tear apart Pat's arguement (I believe it was on illegal immigration.) Bowyer went on for days when Pat was unavailable to defend himself. Bowyer is like the kid in your neighborhood who got in an altercation with you, then ran home and stood behind the front storm door with his protective mother at his side and made faces at you. He's a priss, but a well-read priss.

No, Bowyer is great if you want to learn about history and religion, but way too often he purposefully closes his eyes to Democrat (and especially Clinton's) indiscretions because he's afraid of losing the Democrats in his very miniscule audience (and in Pittsburgh, if he offends his Democrats, goodbye Jerry). But above all Bowyer is too much the prickly scold, and comes off as the professor who will hold a grudge against an intelligent student in class who has mentioned something of which he was previously unaware.

Jerry is a Class D minor leaguer, but at least he's on the right side of things. Quinn will be in the Hall of Fame some day. Jerry needs another pitch or two to get out of the bushes!

I should be outside getting those last leaves up, but you said it all! Quinn is KING. This is nothing but excellent news for a country in need of common sense.
