California Senate has voted to repeal SB 60! (Drivers' Licenses for Illegals Being REPEALED Now!)
Posted on 11/24/2003 4:34:03 PM PST by ElkGroveDan
The California Senat is now voting on SB 1XXX by Senator Rico Oller to repeal SB 60, the dirvers license of illegal aliens bill.
Reports are that the Democrats have been scared into supporting this. The recall exit polls showed it was the number one issue.

so I wonder what Arnold had to give up for this? Why would he have had to give up anything? He just replaced a very unpopular dem because of these laws passed by these dems. I would think that this would be the best time for Arnold to not have to deal, he has them running scared for their own jobs, otherwise Arnold can begin full force the campaign to replace all the dems in the state.

He is to never be trusted.
However, he and his amigos, if they think that the California people will roll over and forget about this, so he and his Hispanic Thugs in the legislature can sneak it by again. They are badly mistaken.

You mean the California state legislature is responding to the will of the voters? It's almost like they're accountable or something.

This and $1.9 billion in budget cuts coming from the governors office? Am I awake?
To: FairOpinion
Please, don't confuse the poor fella. He's already stated this isn't what it seems because the ditsy demorat who sponsored the bill in the first place stated there's a deal. If he's going to believe the democrat, he's beyond hope. Which is essentially what I've been saying all along. Even when it's good, it's bad according to him. LOL
To: hedgetrimmer
Don't kid yourself, that $1.9 billion in budget cuts isn't what it seems!!!! LOL This is a bad omen, just wait for Sabertooth to straighten you out.

Yeah, I don't like 49 either. This BS for the children stuff is getting every old. Christ, we pay more for our children's education that just about every other nation on the planet and still turn out idiots that don't know their arse from Carlsbad Caverns. They can't read, can't make change and think Kennedy was the second coming of JC. Can't argue with you on that one. And that's something tangible that he's actually pushed. All the rest is still just speculation at this point.
To: Sabertooth
I have a question:
Is this repeal of SB60 simply a way to keep the referendum off the upcoming ballot so that it can be reintroduced at a later time?

No one voted NO, however there were 6 abstentions however, all Democrats: ALARCON, FIGUEROA, FLOREZ, ORTIZ, ROMERO, SOTO
I'm sure all those Hispanic surnames are just coincidence...

My take on this thing is, I think it's great it was over turned.
However, the never ending flood of illegals into our country does not slow. They have been invading for years, drivers licenses or no drivers licenses. What is it going to take for the Federal Government to act?
And if they don't act, I can only imagine what the citizens of the states are going to have to do to eliminate this attack on our borders and our sovereignty.
Guard our own individual state borders with arms? Citizens arrest on illegals? Recall everyone in office? Stop paying federal taxes until the fedgov decides to do their job?

If CA could repeal this kind of law, then I hope the other 14 states that give driver's licenses to illegals would follow suit.Well, we've always been a trend setter..We can hope.

I hear you Joe. It's a damn shame what's taking place on our borders and even worse what we are bringing into our heartland. I'm frustrated as can be with the idea that we'll allow middle easterners who were raised their whole lives to hate us, to immigration into our heartland. Once here, Christians have to take a back seat to them and the athiests to attain harmony.
Bush goes after some terrorists and then winks at Arafat's actions. Yep, it drives me crazy. Then there's the alternative, guys like Daschle, Bustamante and worse...
If Schwarzenegger follows through on some of his comments regarding illegals, I'm all for recalling his ass too.
Californians are on a pretty short fuse right now. If Schwarzenegger thinks he's got a pass for anything and everything he wants to do, he's going to find out rather quickly that the limelight can turn to sunset.
I am convinced this nation is being sold into slavery. I don't like the idea that we have to put up with some of the politicians we do, but then the only viable electable alternatives are even worse.
Is anyone besides me convinced McClintock wouldn't have had a prayer of getting SB60 repealed even after months? The ballot initiative was the only route if he'd have won. Now it's nearly gone.
I'm frustrated by people on both sides of the isle right now, and I'm sure others are frustrated with me. It gauls each of us to see what leaders we have foisted off on us. Despite not liking everything some of them stand for, the only viable alternatives can and are often much worse.
To: Political Junkie Too
I am still stunned that Tennessee and others were permitted this ridiculous notion of licensing illegals, and the FEDS did nothing. What gives? Terrorists of 9/11 even had D.L.'s.

Good news!
I guess the state Senators don't want to be recalled themselves afterall.
