Can you please quit calling "General Interest" chat??

The link doesn't say "Chat." Most people don't know how to find "Chat."

Change the link, or call it what it is.

You can either go to the "General Interest" forum and then hit "post", or you can use this link:

Post the news of the weird and the tabloid stuff and such over in chat...

Maybe if you rename chat... "News of the weird and tabloid stuff"???? there would be more interest.

At this point chat may as well be renamed Hobbit world... 8 * )

We need a broad "news of the weird" category which must be opted-into, hiding this garbage. You are correct (and I'm just as guilty as anyone, except Michael Jackson).

while some of these may be silly, examination and commentary on the popular culture has a direct bearing on the political forces changing, or trying to change, our country. the Michael Jackson case, as tabloid as it may seem, is relevant to what is happening to our judicial system, and the moral climate of the country.

The dang URL says chat, and when we move it we type in "chat". It would be nice if the URL matched the text and what we typed matched the label, but until then I'll try to call it "General Interest" and you try to remember that "chat"="General Interest", fair deal?

Good - I was afraid FR would go the way of Fox News. You know - all tabloid, all the time.

Which brings me back to my original comment, where I tried to anticipate that point. The fact is that 99% of the comments on those threads have nothing to do with what you are speaking. And the 1% that do can't be found because of the other 99% (I'll have the spam spam spam spam spam and eggs and spam and spam spam and spam hold the eggs).

Over on the right hand side of the main thread page, look for this:

My Forums
Campaign Central
General Interest
News/Activism
Religion
RLC Liberty Caucus
The Smokey Backroom
VetsCoR

Click on general interest to post or search for an article in general interest, or 'chat'. This will work exactly as the news forum, except you will be in the 'chat' forum. Works with all the other forums as well. Thanks

We didn't have specific forums then, you're correct. FR has gotten to the point where Jim decided to seperate the type of articles.

Exactly...before a general "Platoon Ass Chewing", look inward to the mechanics of the site, and make it a little more user friendly. You've got a zillion registrants now, so maybe a little upgrading is in order.

There has been a tendency for some trivial frivolity here. However, items such as
Syphilis Cases Rising In Idaho - many of the victims are pregnant make a serious statement about the condition and decline of our culture under liberalism. I'm old enough to remember the '50s when syphilis was almost wiped out. A physician would go years without seeing a case of it. The so-called clap was also a rarity. With the rise of counterculturalism 20% og women coming into college health services have papiloma virus, a uterine cancer precursor. It's something to think about. It's your site. Do what you want.
