Iraq suicide bombers kill at least 18; first missile hit on plane
KHAN BANI SAAD, Iraq : At least 18 people were killed in twin suicide attacks on Iraqi police stations, as a civilian cargo aircraft made an emergency landing after the first successful missile strike on a plane in the seven-month-old insurgency.
The scale of the carnage from the almost simultaneous car bombings against the two police stations north of Baghdad overwhelmed local hospital staff. Police were forced to fire in the air to disperse anguished residents so they could evacuate the wounded and clear the human remains.
International express courier firm DHL confirmed that all of its staff were unhurt after what the US military said was a SA-7 surface-to-air missile strike on its Airbus A-300 aircraft.
Witnesses told AFP that they saw the plane's left wing ablaze before the plane made an emergency return to Baghdad airport, which has remained shut to scheduled civilian flights ever since the US-led spring invasion because of the persistent missile threat from anti-coalition insurgents.
A four year-old girl was among six police officers and three civilians killed in this small town 20 kilometres (12 miles) from Baghdad when a bomber rammed a vehicle packed with explosives into the police station, according to an "initial" toll from the US military.
Minutes later another suicide assailant blew himself up outside the police station in the provincial capital of Baquba further north, killing seven Iraqi police and two civilians, said Colonel Bill MacDonald, spokesman for the US 4th Infantry Division, which patrols the region.
A further five Iraqi police were still missing from that attack, MacDonald said.
The horror of the human detritus from the two attacks was so great that doctors said it was difficult to be precise about the toll.

breaking news would be: "a day just passed without a suicide bombing in iraq".

Iraqis look at damaged cars outside a police station after a car bomb attack in Baquba, some 37 miles northeast of Baghdad November 22, 2003. Suicide bombers blew up cars packed with explosives outside two police stations north of Baghdad, killing at least 18 people in the latest deadly strikes on Iraq (news - web sites)'s U.S.-backed police force. Ban all private vehicles from Baghdad and other major Iraqi cities NOW.

We nominally worship the same God, but these idiots behind the bombings worship power. Nothing more, nothing less.

There's only one God but those a**h***s have the wrong idea about Him. Very wrong idea.

Possibly, Muslims do worship the same God. However terrorists do not.
I can only hope there really is a difference between true Muslims and terrorists and our fight is only with those who would use that religion to kill innocent people.
Thin line I know, but not everyone is a terrorists.?

Yes, there is only one GOD, but not everyone worships him. In other words, just because you worship something it doesn't make it GOD. Satanist quite effectively worship the devil. If they argued that their god was the same god as the Christian or Jewish GOD, I guess you would have to buy into it. NOT!
IMHO, the thing that the Muslims worship is closer to the god that the Satanist worship that the GOD that the rest of us worship. It is most defiantly not GOD. It is evil. The fact that they try to deceive us fits right in with their evil religion.
I make no distinction between the Muslims and the Islamic. They all worship a false and evil god. Mohameds teachings were, and are, 180 degrees out of phase from Christ.

Agreed.
Perhaps those here who say we worship the same G-d could present a list of Synagogues and Christian churches in saudi arabia, the birthplace of islam.

I believe where many of us part ways is the office and status that Jesus Christ plays in our lives.
As the scripture says even the devil believes in God and he trembles because of His awesomeness (James 2:19). Not everyone can accept the record of God's son, Jesus as Lord and Savior and the door or access to God.

Or perhaps they could provide a list of all the Muslim charities in the Middle East that provide food, clothing and shelter to all the little Jewish and Christian boys and girls.
