Vehicle License Fee Notice -
California DMV ^ | Nov 20, 2003 | Arnold Schwarzenegger

Posted on 11/20/2003 7:09:31 PM PST by Amerigomag

Use DMV's Online Calculator to determine your reduced fees.

Governor Schwarzenegger has signed Executive Order S-1-03 rescinding the Vehicle License Fee (VLF) increase that went into effect October 1, 2003.

Customers who have paid the full amount will automatically receive a refund by mail beginning in early 2004.

Customers who have not already paid their registration renewal may calculate their lower fees by taking the VLF line from the billing notice multiply it by .675 and subtract that amount from the total fees due. Round this figure to the nearest whole dollar. You may also use DMV's Online Calculator. Submit the new amount by mail to the address on your billing notice.

At this time, the reduced registration amount can only be accepted by mail.

Please remember to pay your registration on time to avoid penalties

I just did a quick calculation and between the refund for the first two that I've already paid...and the savings on the third that I've yet to pay...I'll be keeping nearly $500 that gray davis thought he was going to get. ;-)

Keep your fingers crossed.

Although Schwarzenegger had the authority to roll back the increase he apparenlty needs the consent of the legislature to issue the refunds.

Davis had a math problem, too. I heard on Roger Hedgecock yesterday that in the few weeks since it went into effect, the state was losing revenue. Seems like car sales went into an immediate slump, thereby removing the 7%+ sales tax revenues.

Will do. But from all I've heard, the dimRATs want to approve the refunds as it especially affects dimRAT voters, aka, the poor.

Let's hope that's true.

I read in the paper this morning that Schwarzanegger had one of his underlings call Grey Davis' appointee as head of the DMV and fire him yesterday. So Arnold has his own guy heading up the DMV now.

So let's see the legislature stop him from issuing refunds.

The story goes that the day after Schwarzenegger signed the rollback, Davis' appointee advised the press it would be at least 3 months before the DMV could implement the change.

On Wednesday, a very angry Schwarzenegger ordered the bastard out of the building and sent over his own man by lunch.

A little over twentyfour hours later the changes were implimented.

Swish, boom, bang. Wish SB60 and SB2 could be as easy.

Yes, but if cutting the tax raises revenues by increasing sales, Democrats will complain that the increased revenue base means the tax cost more than expected.

And a very good thing that is!

The more foot-dragging obstructionists the Governator fires, the better off we will be.

Why not multiply by .325 and be done with it?
