The Tampa Bay Bucs' grounding of Keyshawn Johnson is yet another reason to love the NFL. The league has its imperfections, sure, but it's the only one of the Big Three

I've worked with a couple of people that made me wish the US Government worked on the same guidance. THis is why the NFL, for all its corruption, still offers some valuable lessons to society at large.

Contrast Keyshawn with perhaps the toughest player EVER
to put on a uniform, Hines Ward. Mr. Ward is the anti-
punk.

Using Kevin Johnson formerly of the Browns displays this writers poor investigative skills.
The Browns are a dead fish rotting from the head thanks to Butch Davis and Carmen Policy.
We beat a teamn with a lousy defensive line and secondary in the Arizona Cardinals and the only statment that makes is that we can beat someone with a defense that's worse than our offense.
Johnson was never considered a whiner or uncooperative until the Browns and their bought and paid for radio friends started bad mouthing him.
And I say these things as a lifelong Browns fan and current season ticket holder.

Goodbye and good riddance to a sap. Now if they would get rid of the other sap.

Machrihanish is a town and RAF base in Scotland. Is that what your screen name refers to?

Sad part is they couldn't just fire him. He'll still be getting his $500,000 per game for sitting at home.

Great. Got one guy in all of major sports and people think this changes our society. This is an abberation. Punk sportsmen getting away with murder is the norm.

It actually refers to the 1st hole at the Macrihanish golf
course. The front nine at Macrihanish is the best nine
holes in golf.
Click on my links to see a great painting my buddy did of
that hole after we played there in 1996. You can see the
buildings of the air force base in the background.
This area is the site of much supposed UFO activity.

Where is the pool for how long it takes for Johnson to play the race card? Is it already too late? Has Jesse been paid yet?

If Keyshawn wants to get the ball more, he should play for the New York Giants. He won't get a lot of passes thrown his way, but at least once during every offensive series he'll have an opportunity to recover a Tiki Barber fumble.

How long would Keyshawn have played if he had stuck his face in this guy's face?! |
To: Tacis
Poor Little Keyshawn. He just wants the GD ball, but The Man won't throw it to him.

I'm sure Dan Snyder has Keyshawn's agent on speed dial.....
There are teams in the NFC East that try even harder to lose than the Giants.

I don't know if I'd call Ward THE toughest player ever, but I was thinking about Ward when the Keyshawn story broke. He not only plays like a professional, but acts professional also. Most teams have some players that act mature, but I think that when you combine ability and class, Hines Ward tops the league.

Don't remember the guy's name, but he was a running back for the Vikings and retired to go into medicine. Robert something (My Somezheimer's is kicking in again) I think.
Anyway; Theknow, Jr. and I were driving back to the house from a Vikings game a couple of years ago and he was being interviewed on the radio.
Announcer: "So, Robert, we've noticed that you don't do much celebrating in the end zone when you score like some of your teammates, say Randy Moss for instance."
Reply: "I get paid to score touchdowns. That's my job. They don't pay me to act like I'm some idiot who's never seen the end zone before."
Son and I both looked at each other and in unison said, "What a class act."
I then related the story about Bob Trumpy celebrating in the end zone after he had scored a touchdown when he played for the Bengals, because as he said, the other team's players did it.
Coach Paul Brown said to him, "Next time show some class and act like you've done it before."

Jerry Rice has a similar line he gives young players as advice, he says when they get to the end zone they should act like they've been there before and are going to be there again..
I was shocked but pleased to see Keyshawn benched, he's a jerk and not actually that talented.

I seem to remember a Robert Smith or Robert Griffith who retired from the Vikings at the peak of his career within the last few years. I didn't know he was going into medicine, though.

Mark Bavaro may not be the toughest guy ever to play the game, but he must rank among the top ten.
After every touchdown he scored he would genuflect and say a quick prayer, then walk over and hand the ball to the nearest official.
