FOFLOL. They're ceremonial and indicate specific orders

"...on the other side of Laura is Prince Charles and then Condi." Chuckie better keep his paws off Condi. She's my girl. ;~))

Seems like I remember George doing something particularly jackass in front of the queen when he was much younger, his mom Barb apologizing for him, and George telling the Queen that he's always been the 'black sheep'.

I agree but the Queen has never been noted as a fashion plate like Diana was. Over the years she has worn some pretty bad stuff but she is now in her 70s and has met Presidents going back to at least Eisenhower as Queen and I doubt anyone is going to tell her what to wear anymore. I think for whatever reason she feels comfortable with the handbag and there it is even in her own Palace.

I know. And the white gloves must be ceremonial, too. Okay, when is the last time you saw an American woman wearing formal gloves.

Gotta Ask - What is he drinking? You know if it's a "full leaded" beverage, the media will have a field day. I think it is okay for a royal toast, and perhaps insulting to refuse. It's probably something like sparkling apple cider. Looks like champagne, so the pictures don't look 'funny'. A good host will do everything possible to make the guests welcome and comfortable, and I'm sure the Queen is a perfect host!

Oh my, the color of Laura's dress is just gorgeous; so rich, befitting a dinner with the Queen.

Well, I'm notsure it was a "jackass" moment but it happened during as state visit to the US when 41 was in the White House. The Queen and GWB were getting along well, and GWB said, I'm the Black Sheep in my family, who is it in yours The Queen laughed and said she wasn't tellling.

I guess we forget that this little Queen was a mechanic in WWII and driving around military bases in her jeep. And her Mom was one brave woman.
To: xp38
FOFLOL. Well, yes, that is one of the perks of being the Queen.
