I was struck by this statement, and assume it's a reflection of his rejection of natural evolution.

Serious and respectful question: do creationists who do not believe that Neanderthals existed believe that Neanderthal fossils were planted as a hoax, or is there another basis to reject the notion that Neanderthals existed?
