In memory of my fellow Vietnam helicopter pilots who were killed in that war
the following were lost on NOV 17. God bless them all.
1967 CPT Roelf Bijl -- Air America
1967 1LT John W. Terrell -- 4 INF DIV, Age 22, Akron, Ohio
A tribute to CPT Bijl and all Air America pilots.
Memorial Dedication - McDermott Library, University Of Texas At Dallas - May 30, 1987.
This memorial is dedicated to the air crews and ground support personnel of Civil Air Transport, Air America, Air Asia, and Southern Air Transport, who died while serving the cause of freedom in Asia from 1947 to 1975.

To find out why all us old helicopter pilots are hard of hearing hit this "starter trigger" to hear what it sounds like to start a huey from the cockpit. There is one already running in a nearby revetment.

Hi Billie!. Thanks for the thread, and for featuring an Akron native this morning.
The USPS has issued a Purple Heart stamp BTW.

Morning to the Finest!

Lord, keep us ever vigilant as our armor is in place for the battleground and we need some extra grace. Let Your blessings fall upon us as we sound the warriors cry, while comforting our loved ones who fear that we may die. Keep Your hand upon our head when we have no time to pray for the terror of the war may surround us any day.
Lord, we ask Your choicest blessings on those we must leave behind; mothers, fathers, sons and daughters...Lord, protect them and be kind. Hold their hand when they are worried, let our messages get through, for Lord you know that each of us relies solely on You. There will be unfamiliar trials that theyre not yet equipped to face, but by prayer they too will be prepared by Your amazing grace.
Give us courage to face the enemy, help us persevere until the end, seeking freedom for the oppressed, while our country we defend. If the days of war are lengthened, Lord, give us added strength to stand and steadfastly proclaim Your truth over in some foreign land. Draw us ever closer to You as we bow our heads in prayer, seeking always to do Your will so we will not falter there.
Let the peace that passeth understanding be etched deeply in each heart, assured that when You go before us, we will not fall apart. And if, perchance, we are wounded, or must lay down our life one day, still with thanksgiving on our lips, well praise You, Lord, all the way. For You are the joy of our salvation, our hope of life in eternity, as when we leave this earth behind, well dwell with You in victory.
But until that days upon us, bravely we will face anew every trial, every conflict, armed with Your power through and through! Amen
Psalm 28:7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Thank you, ((((Billie)))) for allowing us the beautifully-presented opportunity to pray for and thank our military members, past and present.
Dear Father, Please hear our pleas for the safety and protection of all of our military members deployed overseas. It is a tumultuous time, fraught with danger and uncertainty. Please place Your bloodline of protection around these wonderful people who selflessly protect us and our freedoms.
Also, bring awareness to all Americans in order that they may pray for and thank *All* of our military members past and present for all that they do and have done.
We ask these favors as your humble and contrite servants in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
