Memos of special interest on Hill

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee have worked in close concert with outside special-interest groups to defeat President Bush's judicial nominees, according to internal Democratic staff memos.

In one memo to Sen. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois obtained by The Washington Times, Washington lawyer Miguel A. Estrada is singled out as "especially dangerous" because "he is Latino." Mr. Estrada, born in Honduras, withdrew his nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit in September after being filibustered for eight months.

"Anything that wipes the perpetual smirk off of Dick Durbin's ugly mug fills me with great joy.....is that wrong? :) LOL!"

Well, even if it is wrong, I can't help feeling the same way.

As with the Hannity Memo, we have to keep pounding away at this. The national media is basically ignoring this (heard anything about the Hannity memo lately). But, if we continue to push this, to send copies to every TV and Radio station in the country, to every newspaper, over and over again, eventually we MAY get lucky.

Of course, we are talking about the so-called elite media, but this stuff is damn serious and worth the effort.

It is time for Frist to call the troops home in light of this memo. Will never happen though, weekends are "personal times." (i.e. let the dems raise their Iowa money & next week we'll talk it to death & make nice).

It's becoming pretty clear that this is a comprehensive plan by the Democrats to combine all their channels of influence into a single, massive effort to defeat President Bush. Never mind the damage to America's vital institutions -- our national security, our tradition of judicial impartiality, and so on. Winning is all that matters.

If Joe Sixpack comes to understand this, the Democrats will be the minority party for the next generation. Maybe two.

From one of the many Dem whining boards:

"Responding to the outcry following her vote in favor of the (Iraq War) Resolution, Feinstein maintained that her position on the Senate Intelligence Committee put her in possession of privileged information not available to the rest of us. 'I know better", she famously retorted."

Of course, Feinstein later whined that ""No incontrovertible evidence of an imminent threat has been found in the case of the war in Iraq," which is technically true, although the implication (that Bush said that) is false.

I'd bet on Feinstein -- maybe her fellow sleazebags didn't consult her when formulating the conspiracy, and she's ticked at being dissed.

It is time for Frist to call the troops home in light of this memo.

Why? Are you being sarcastic?

Forgive me for jumping in on the exchange between you two but it seemed to me that Protect the Bill of Rights was not referring to the troops meaning our military but Frist's "troops" which would be the Senators, who are off for the weekend .... a luxury our military doesn't enjoy.

Yes, I meant the Senate troops, NOT our brave military troops.

Majority Leader should have its perks. One perk should be able to call a special session in light of this memo.

The GOP wanted to bring the issue of judical appointments to the public's attention.

After the world heard the Senate Dems bloviating last week, what better time to strike?.....He should call a special session and read these memos aloud to the entire country. He should then ask the Dems to repeat [with a straight face, no crosses count] they are not beholding to any special interest group.

The let the bloviators squirm out of it on the Senate floor.

While he is at it, he should read Teddy's Neanderthal comment into the record. This is war and Frist should fight to win.

Thanks for the clarification.

That's why I asked before I said somethin I'd regret.

carry on...and you're right Protect the Bill of Rights. In light of what the Democrats are doing on C-Span right now they need to be exposed, especially those Dem senators who are aware of what's happening and not speaking out against these memos.
