Sen. Ted Kennedy called President Bush's judicial nominees "Neanderthals" on Friday, a group that includes Hispanic lawyer Miguel Estrada and African-American Judge Janice Rogers Brown. Boasting of his party's resolve in the face of GOP attempts to stop their filibuster, Kennedy told the Senate, "What has not ended is the resolution and the determination of the members of the United States Senate to continue to resist any Neanderthal that is nominated by this president of the United States for any court, federal court in the United States."
Kennedy's overtly racist language stunned even liberal CNN correspondent Jonathan Karl, who reported, "Strong words from Ted Kennedy suggesting that some of these nominees are Neanderthals."
Karl said Kennedy's harsh tone was "exactly what Republicans point to when they say it is the Democrats that have been the extremists on this."

Like Zell Miller, I would expect the mass exodus of joe six pack to continue, leaving, first, their party in spirit, like Zell and others actually switching to a different party. I'm fast losing respect for Zell Miller because, for all his fine talk (and yes, I realize he often votes with "our" side), it seems unconscionable that he hasn't switched parties by now. He allowed the Senate to be ruled by the Dems and then complained about how far they've gone astray. If he's going to retire anyway he could use that switch as a psychological blow to the conscience of Democrats all over the nation.

So what's the Spanish word for 'neanderthal"?

If a Republican had made such a statement there would be calls for his immediate resignation and demands that he be prosecuted for "Hate Speech."
I still can't believe Bush Sr. gave that SOB a public service award. I saw that on tv the other night and felt like I was watching a lost episode of the Twighlight Zone...

I wonder if someone has already compiled a list of the outrageous comments dems made this week re: the judicial nominees. Landreau and her "honey" comments, Hillary and her "lemon" comments, and Teddy and his "neaderthal" comments. Any more? I had houseguests and was not able to watch the proceedings. I'm thinking of writing a letter to the editor of our local NYT clone.

Every one of these judges seem to have been first class individuals. It is very ironic that someone like Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy blocks their career progress and disparages their accomplishments in such a shameful way. His life accomplishments are firmly attached to his brothers legacy. The people of Massachusetts are smitten with his family and the name. His behavior was excused because of his name. I am so glad he was never president. Keep it up Teddy. You are a damned disgrace.

...it is a fact that many anthropologists believe that the population in which the neanderthal genes run strongest today is- the Irish! That's wonderful, now when someone asks me what my ancestry is I can tell them I'm half neanderthal lol.
Seriously I read somewhere that the Irish were closely related to the Dutch, who had migrated to Ireland hundreds of years ago. I always figured there was some truth to that considering my overwhelming fascination with windmills.

Something must be terribly wrong with the drinking water in Massachusetts. It obviously has caused widespread brain damage among the voters who keep sending this drunken moron back to the Senate.

Well, remember Trent Lott's remarks about Strom Thurmond? An innocent comment on an old man's birthday praising his presidential candidacy turned into a firestom of racism that cost Lott his job.
Here, we have Ted Kennedy straight out calling a black a Neanderthal, and the media gives him a free pass because he's a Democrat.

That's right, and what really bothered me was to see so many freepers joining the Liberals. It happens every time the Left wants to destroy the Republican competition.

GIVEN that they are so quick and eager to kill their own young with such GAY abandon . . .
does anyone really doubt that they would just as happily, quickly and eagerly
kill all us Neandertal jungle bunnies?
What an honor . . .
Sheesh!
Traitorous, murderous idiots.

I wasn't aware he ever
HAD
a grip on reality.
His dad didn't.
His bro who Daddy had the Presidency bought for JFK through typical HYPORAT voter fraud in Chicago certainly didn't realize what values were foundationally important.
