Sen. Ted Kennedy called President Bush's judicial nominees "Neanderthals" on Friday, a group that includes Hispanic lawyer Miguel Estrada and African-American Judge Janice Rogers Brown.Boasting of his party's resolve in the face of GOP attempts to stop their filibuster, Kennedy told the Senate, "What has not ended is the resolution and the determination of the members of the United States Senate to continue to resist any Neanderthal that is nominated by this president of the United States for any court, federal court in the United States."
Kennedy's overtly racist language stunned even liberal CNN correspondent Jonathan Karl, who reported, "Strong words from Ted Kennedy suggesting that some of these nominees are Neanderthals."
Karl said Kennedy's harsh tone was "exactly what Republicans point to when they say it is the Democrats that have been the extremists on this."

"Friends"? Ted Kennedy would snatch Hatch's beating heart out of his chest....in a N.Y. minute.
Hatch wonders what's happened in JUST the last couple of years..!?!?!?!? CRIKEY..!!!
Another reason I seriously question Hatch's judgement, and critical thinking skills. If the voter's of Utah...don't get rid of that guy. He should just retire..!!
FWIW-
"And let me know if Dan Rather mentioned this tonight. "
))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
If he did....I'll send you some Tums.
But, somebody else is gonna have to verify if Rather mentioned it....Cause I don't watch that idiot either.
FRegards,
Let me know if all you see is a red "x"...

I see a butterfly. Am I not suppose to?
FRegards,
"Oh, that's just the proper Senate protocol, to pretend they're all good friends and have the highest regard for each other. Dozens of times during the debates, one Republican senator or another would mention a Democrat Senator by name and say something about how they enjoyed working with him/her, or say what a fine person they were. "
======================================================
I understand protocol....and decency.
But I stand by what I said.
IMO...Hatch is a "go along, to get along" type of "Representative". A poster boy...for what is WRONG in the Republican Party.
FRegards,
Aw, give him some slack. He'd probably had a few too many when he said it.
hehe ! He's Jabba the Hutt !! ...
Like Zell Miller, I would expect the mass exodus of joe six pack to continue, leaving, first, their party in spirit, like Zell and others actually switching to a different party.
I would imagine by now there is not a person on this forum board who has not had a family member or friend leave the dem party. I certainly have. In a way, it is kinda sad...good people were manipulated by genuine thugs who stole their party in a greedy effort to amass money and power; dropping all pretense of moral or ethical vision.
The word democrat has become like a dirty word, a genuine dirty word...because of the folks like those named here who are so willing to hurt others to win. There are folks out there (my sister and brother-in-law included) who have left the party out of shame. (In fact...they have a GWB bumper sticker on their car...which is how I first learned of their awakening!)
You are exactly right. I shudder to think of how my squadron would perform with leadership like what I see in the current crop of Repub "leaders."
Instead of being "shocked" by his language, how about someone on the Republican side garner some intestinal fortitude and call that fat, lying, murderous traitor what he IS to his face?
Instead of all the usual, "I support our troops...blah, blah, blah..." I hear from the Republican leadership, I'd take a Senate with some grit any old day. Heck, it might be a tremendous "morale booster" if those of us in the military (being mostly conservative) could actually see that our so-called leadership is fighting as hard in their arena as they ask us to in ours.
