[history]
November 14, 2003 -- It was do or die for "Taboo" last night, as Rosie O'Donnell's troubled musical starring Boy George debuted on Broadway. The glitzy show, about the androgynous London club scene of the early '80s, opened at the Plymouth Theatre following weeks of less-than-stellar previews.

Is he *supposed* to look like a Conehead who has been shot several times in the head?

I predict her "girlfriend" will leave her eventually, perhaps for a man
She is Degenerizing before our eyes. It's the same scenario. THey both got so big they thought people would be forced to approve of them and their nasty little habits. Big surprise to find out that the general public has the final decision. I DO have to thank Ellen for driving the delightful Anne Heche back into our camp.
'Rosie" was always something of a freak show. I mean, come on, who didn't know she was a lesbian? Not only was she obviously a dyke, she also looked very much like a big fat bully, so the "queen of nice" label was a joke as well.
There is a certain interest in watching something be something that it's not. Like a dancing bear or a trained tiger... there is drama in watching and wondering if or when it will return to form.

Jeez !
I had to look up "schadenfreude" in my "Dictionary of Obscure Words,Used to Impress Others With Your Wit and Erudition".
In case any of you are wondering, it is " a malicious satisfaction in the misfortunes of others".
What a WORTHY subject for discussion !

I think it's a lovely thing that freaks like this don't have to depend on carnivals for employment anymore. God Bless America.

Gene: Timesink has been using a "Schadenfreude" media list for more than a year now...this has been a sort of official FR word. I first heard the word about ten years ago and since I took German in high school I could figure out what it meant (literally "sad-joy").
There was no motivation to "impress" Freepers with my "knowledge."

You are a good person; there is a part of me that also feels sorry for her, but she is such a mean-spirited, arrogant bully it's hard for me to maintain that feeling.
What put me over the edge was her remark to that Gruner + Jahr CEO who was a breast cancer victim:"Y'know, lying causes cancer." I was done after that.

I'm guessing the audience is smaller than those who attended the Vagina Monologues.

Believe me, if I thought she was in her right mind right now, I'd consider her fair game for anything.
As I said, I haven't forgiven her for the gun remarks. And her "apology" didn't make it any better. Kind of like how it probably didn't make it any better for the breast-cancer survivor to hear an apology for "the way she took it".

You betcha. Hope that image is not on your hard drive, it will burn a hole in it.
And schadenfreude may be an obscure word (except on FR), but it is sucah a WONDERFUL word that I think the poster should get extra points for it.

I was the one who got the whole Schadenfreude thing started on FR, 'way back in November 2000. You can blame me.

If you just look at her eyes, they are full of sadness; her mouth, on the other hand, looks like it's full of anger.
Conflicted and confused.

Other than gays, transvestites, people who live on West End Ave and Rosie's friends, are there any other people who would lay out cash to see this tripe?

The queen of lesbo mean has a bomb on her hands. Why is it straight men see her for the female dog that she is/was and women do not?

My neighbor used to own a Schadenfreude, but traded it in on an Edsel. Then I had the schadenfreude; but this morning it wouldn't start.
