Gov. Jeb Bush is violating Terri Schiavo's constitutional rights by preventing her from dying, a judge said Friday in ordering the governor to return to court next week to defend his actions

Dear Courts:

This is not somewhere we want to go. This will be a straight shot to suicide by proxy.

This will be a straight shot to suicide by proxy.

You mean if I'm feeling miserable, Felos et al. will commit suicide for me so I won't have to? I do think I might feel better if they suicided themselves.

Unfortunately, I suspect what you really mean is murder by proxy.

There were no elevated cardiac enzymes. The EKG was normal and showed NSR.
As I said, a low K will not cause a cardiac crisis if the individual has a healthy heart without cardiac HX.
I do not dispute your contention K is essential to cardiac functioning.
If you are bolused with IV solution, D5W, say a liter in 15 minutes, or less, what are the effects to your blood sugar, thus K? DUH.
The doc stated the girl had no heart attack.
The K was not low to begin with. Where do you get this notion?
The chem panels, liver, etc were all WNL.
What is of interest is the anoxia/hypoxia which lead to O2 deprivation. And as we later found out, the extensive fractures.

BUMP

Thanks for posting that. Maybe a disclaimer is needed? :^)

George J. Felos said on several interview programs that in FL "PVS" is equivalent legally to "terminally ill." Some people in FL really believe "in" George J. Felos. Do you think George J. Felos has a "living will" for himself?

Correct me if I am wrong but I was to the understanding that Felos is responsible for having PVS listed at terminal in exit protocol in Florida

Yes, I believe you are correct, and in addition, FL law was specially amended to include feeding tubes as "artificial life support" just before MS petitioned to have Terri's feeding tube removed.

Ah, the 'coincidences' in this case are just too much!

I'm not sure that Felos had anything to do with the PVS part of the legislation, but what he did lobby for was that food and water be included as "artificial" and that it could thereby be included in advance directives. The statute was amended in 1999.

Don't know if you all saw this GREAT article titled, "A Painless Death?" in the Weekly Standard by Wesley J. Smith. I am SO sorry if it is a duplicate post, but the information he sets out is SO important for us all to know. When you think about it, it truly is a miracle that Terri survived this attempted murder with her organs intact. It is excellent ..here's an excerpt and the link:

".........When I conducted research on this question in preparation for writing my book "Forced Exit," I asked St. Louis neurologist William Burke these very questions. Here is what he told me:

A conscious [cognitively disabled] person would feel it just as you or I would. They will go into seizures. Their skin cracks, their tongue cracks, their lips crack. They may have nosebleeds because of the drying of the mucus membranes, and heaving and vomiting might ensue because of the drying out of the stomach lining. They feel the pangs of hunger and thirst. Imagine going one day without a glass of water! Death by dehydration takes ten to fourteen days. It is an extremely agonizing death.

Dr. Burke opposes removing feeding tubes from cognitively disabled people and so some might dismiss his opinion as biased. But Minnesota neurologist Ronald Cranford's pro-dehydration testimony in the Robert Wendland case--Cranford also testified that Terri's feeding tube should be removed--supports much of what Dr. Burke asserted. While Cranford called seizures "rare," his detailed description of the dehydration process reveals its gruesome reality:

After seven to nine days [from commencing dehydration] they begin to lose all fluids in the body, a lot of fluids in the body. And their blood pressure starts to go down. When their blood pressure goes down, their heart rate goes up. . . . Their respiration may increase and then . . . the blood is shunted to the central part of the body from the periphery of the body.

So, that usually two to three days prior to death, sometimes four days, the hands and the feet become extremely cold. They become mottled. That is you look at the hands and they have a bluish appearance. And the mouth dries a great deal, and the eyes dry a great deal and other parts of the body become mottled. And that is because the blood is now so low in the system it's shunted to the heart and other visceral organs and away from the periphery of the body . . .

MOST OF THE TIME, we never know for sure what a starved or dehydrated person experiences. But in at least one case--that of a young woman who had her feeding tube removed for eight days and lived to tell the tale--we have direct evidence of the agony that forced dehydration may cause......."

rest here: A Painless Death?"

God Bless Terri and her family ... soften the hearts of the monsters who have her life in their hands.

What a cute story. People should remember what their marriage vows are all about when they take them. I think this story should convince us all that we should never lose hope regarding anything in our lives.

Something has to be changed so that the law reflects that nourishment is not artificial life support!!! Can a law be created to undo this sham?

Geo wants to make PVS a benchmark to kill the teminally ill. Remember, he did step down from the hospice board after taking over this case.

If this case continues and leads to the murder of a disabled, brain damaged woman, we will not be able to reverse the course.
Did you all know Geo Felos has a litmus test? If you are unable to carry spoon from plate to mouth, you are unworthy of living.

The above law was created in 1999. April I believe. That law will be changed. Currently, it is a back burner item.

I sure hope so. I do think that the state legislature is planning to bring this very topic up in the spring when they reconvene. They realize now that the way they wrote the law before allowed atrocities like Terri's case to go forward, and I do believe it's not what they intended. And who but Felos knew that MS was waiting in the wings to have the new legislation be retroactively be applied to Terri, and many other helpless citizens of Florida? Certainly not most of the legislators.

It's kind of like the 9/11 tragedies. Who of us would have ever dreamt that humans could hate other humans so intensely to do that? Before 9/11, the idea was completely preposterous, but after 9/11 we are less naive. Same goes with this legislation. Nobody ever expected the law would be used in this way. Everyone thought that there were precautions that would have stopped anyone from going this far. The guardianship laws for one example. Now, of course, we see that there is great evil all around us waiting to take advantage of our being so congenial. They use the letter of the law to warp the spirit of the law.

It's a death trap! I wouldn't want to be within 500 miles of Florida while this abomination is on its books.

With all the attention this case has drawn, it seems there would be no better time to call attention to the need to strike that particular amendment, while also drawing attention to the timing and circumstances of its passage, and its perverse effect on Terri's Constitutional right to life.

Any ideas on how best to accomplish this?

Yes thank youvery much for the information and I was awre of it...the problem seems to be is to get more people educated on this subject..doesn't Felos's litmus test want you to just break both his arms !!!! and does his evil mind somehow going to incorporate this in to spoon feeding babies ???

Bump, well said.

Is it possible that politicians didn't realize the tragic consequences of this amendment, and approved it as a cost-saving measure? It goes without saying that FL has a huge elderly population. Whom does such an amendment benefit? Certainly not the constituants, unless the Legislature was led to believe that sustaining patients dependent on a feeding tube is inhumane.

Also, did Felos ever promote the notion that adding use of a feeding tube to the definition of 'artifical life support' would be an ideal way to avoid a budget crisis? It would not surprise me.
