Oh, thank you for telling me, you, you, you, Schiavo, you. That was SO cruel.
If you can't e-mail me a slice, just shut up about it :-)

On Friday, Baird reminded lawyers for the governor that courts repeatedly have found that Terri Schiavo did not want to be kept alive artificially. Perhaps Baird would be so kind as to refresh my memory about a couple of things:
- The names of two or more judges that made such a factual determination (he did say courts, right?
- A description of any evidence whatsoever which indicates that Terri made any such statement intending it to apply to feeding and hydration.
If Baird isn't outright lying, those should be easy things to supply.

What makes you think Terri wants to go? She wants to live enough that she fought to stay alive without food and water for 6 DAYS!
Maybe you wouldn't appreciate that as an expression of "will to live" until you've been there too.

Yes, bigolly, this belongs in the dictionary:
FELOS:
1) Verb: disconnecting; the act of breaking your Internet connection without permission, especially when your life practically depends on staying connected.
2) A demon or evil person who disconnects you without permission, especially at the worst possible moment.

Thank you for your very succinct and well-informed post. Many of these issues have been brought up here at FR over the past months. Many of us who have been following this for a while are familiar with what a diagnosis of PVS entails. And the high rate of misdiagnosis of PVS. How could there have been progress made in early therapy if she is PVS? So many things just don't add up it just makes me want to throw things when I think of how Terri has been treated by her no-good HINO and the so-called "justice system" in Florida. I hope this push for a grand jury investigation gains legs. So many avenues have been tried and resulted in nothing but denials and coverups.

Court issues stay blocking husband's challenge to law
The Associated Press
LAKELAND, Fla. --
An appeals court has stepped in to at least temporarily block a man's right-to-die fight with Gov. Jeb Bush over a new law restoring a feeding tube to his brain-damaged wife.
Bush had faced a Monday deadline to justify the constitutionality of the law, but that is gone, and Michael Schiavo now must explain to the state appeals court by Tuesday why his challenge should be on a fast track.
The 2nd District Court of Appeal issued an indefinite stay late Friday after Circuit Judge Douglas Baird lifted another stay to allow the challenge to move forward.
Schiavo has been fighting his in-laws in court for years for the right to remove his wife Terri's feeding tube, saying she would not want to be kept alive artificially. She suffered severe brain damage in 1990 when her heart temporarily stopped, cutting off oxygen to her brain.
Attorneys for the governor contend Michael Schiavo's lawsuit should not be allowed to move ahead until after he serves legal papers on the governor.
"I'm not dragging my feet," Bush said after filing the appeal. "I think it's appropriate in something that is a matter of life and death that the procedures that we believe are the appropriate ones should take place."
Bush compared his position to the "very deliberate" legal work done before any execution, saying he "wants to make sure that innocent life is protected. We go the extra mile."
Calls for comment to Michael Schiavo's attorney Saturday was not returned.
Pat Anderson, attorney for Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, said her "life continues to be threatened by those forces who want to see her die from starvation and dehydration. We are once again grateful that the Gov. is doing everything in his power to protect Terri's life."
Terri Schiavo went without water and nutrition for six days before the Legislature and Bush stepped in last month to have the tube reinserted.
Florida courts had repeatedly affirmed the right of Michael Schiavo to remove the feeding tube.

Thanks for the reminder of those oh-so-apropos words. Keith Green just kind of "popped" into my head this a.m. (don't know why) and that song just seemed to be "calling out" to me to post on this thread....what they're doing to Terri and that song go hand in hand, IMHO.
