We've got all hell breaking loose in Iraq and the Mideast. We've got the Dems in the Senate for the first time in history denying a bipartisan majority of senators their right to vote on judicial nominees.
You've got commentators saying the President should be "Hanged." Presidential candidates calling the President a "Gang Leader." Terrorists are threatening to blow us up just about every day. Environmentalists are threatening to blow us up if we keep driving our cars. PETA is threatening to blow us up if we keep eating meat.
Linda Vester is one of the smartest women in Television and what do they have her doing? They've got her talking to some grandma about how she feels about Scott Peterson.
Enough with the Talk Back Live/Dayside Garbage! Its trash! I want good solid political debate. I don't want to know what Ed from Sacramento thinks about Scott Peterson's facial expressions.
Hannity and Colmes has started a bad habit of beginning their show with Scott/Laci Peterson and calling it their "Top Story." Thats not a top story.
Soldiers being attacked or attacking is a top story. bin laden or Saddam being captured is a top story. People must still be watching or they wouldn't be showing this awful crap!
I want good political debate. As much as I detest it, I would much rather hear Hannity debating with Liberals rather than Scott/Laci/Kobe/.
I've told this story I'm about to tell before, but I'll tell it again for the sake of this commentary. One night I went to bed with the TV on. I woke up in the middle of the night to hear someone screaming.
I quickly looked up and around only to see that it was Rita Cosby screaming at this newspaper editor on TV.
"YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" she screeched!
"THIS IS CENSORSHIP! ARE YOU CRAZY" she screamed!
The story goes that a newspaper editor in Colorado got so many complaints about the over coverage of Scott/Laci/Kobe that he ordered a blackout of the story in his newspaper.
Rita had the owner of the paper on as well at the same time she had on the Newspaper Editor. The Editor was sitting next to Rita, and the owner of the paper was LIVE via satellite.
The owner said that he disagreed with the decision not to cover the Peterson case and Kobe Bryant but that he deliberatly left these decisions up to his editors.
Rita attempted to get the Owner to then fire the editor on the air.
"I THINK SOME CHANGES NEED TO BE MADE AT YOUR PAPER SIR! THIS IS CENSORSHIP! YOU NEED TO GET SOME NEW EDITORS!" Rita yelled.
"WILL YOU BE FIRING HIM?" Rita asked.
The owner replied that he didn't think termination was neccessary and repeated that he disagreed with the decision but that he lets the editors make all the decisions.
"THATS RIDICULOUS!" Rita yelled.
If we get enough people to complain about this we can get this coverage stopped. Imagine how wonderful it would be if Foxnews were to order a complete blackout on this story just like the Newspaper Editor in Colorado did.
Rita Cosby would be looking for a new job!
We've got the numbers in order to influence them. I'm pretty sure O"Reilly is sick of the Laci Peterson stuff as well. When he tosses to Hannity and Colmes he has to say whats coming up on their show.
He usually shakes his head and says "Laci Peterson Again..." with a smirk on his face
Lets make this an ongoing campaign. Boycott Scott Peterson, Laci Peterson, and Kobe Bryant!!!
Greta can have her little legal discussions but keep them ON The Record and Off shows like Hannity and Colmes and Dayside!

Oh I almost (pardon me)puke at the Fox Alerts!
....Rosie chomping on her gum walking to the court...(great shot - important scenes don't you think?)
We need to all write Fox about their lowlife alerts.

Thats right!
Why relegate the ongoing, but not yet completed,(Terri Schiavo) murder by a man of his wife and the involvement of the various branches of our "representative" government, as less important than the trial of a man who has actually succeded in actually murdering his wife? /sarcasm//
Does anyone even pay attention to the bleatings of the talking heads of the "major media" anymore?
Ignore them, and the advertisers who enable them will to continue will also ignore them.
Marketing is not a critical function.
Hense the reason why the first group of people to be fired by corporations going under is their marketing departments.

What can I say, I am not saying the criticism is invalid.
But journalism is EXTREMELY contact-driven. I may go into the field (may not...may still be history teacher like current plans are gearing toward), and if I do, I will already have a contact at the top of the markets.
I don't want that contact fired.
Selfish....yes indeed. Oh well. I would like to have something that puts me in a better position than other applicants.

Around our house the famous phrase is...
"Miss Piggy is on again", just before switching channels.
We spend an hour a day catching up on news and, sorry to say, Laci doesn't cut it.
That goes for all shows on Fox. They say Laci Peterson, I'm outta there.

But she does need to drop the tabloidism. :)
I would not do that if I were in her position....I am more of a Brit Hume type....news should be serious.
I would rather quit than have to do the Peterson 24/7 coverage.

My friend went and got one of those CO2 air horn cans (very loud) and blows it out the window of his house every time his neighbors dogs bark too long at late hours
Hell do it regardless of the hour
It seems to work
It gets his neighbors attention

Well, I have broadcast basic cable.I'm not supposed to get a cable news channel, but somehow, I wound up with MSNBC. In the morning there's Imus. Don't know about daytime because I'm at work. In the evening, there's Chris Matthews. The sound of his voice is like fingernails on a blackboard. The only redeeming factor is Joe Scarborough, but by then, I'm usually falling asleep. Be grateful you have Fox News even if some screaming shrew wakes you up.

I remember seeing some coverage of her's during the Iraq war that was outstanding. I didn't see it, but I have no doubt she has talent. But in the name of all that is holy, she needs some Journalism 101.
As she is now, she is unwatchable. There is a slight pause after the picture appears on my tv before sound begins, and if I see her, believe me, I do NOT stay long enough to hear her. Feh.

I've also noticed that they have many different types of Foxnews Alerts.
They have the standard regular Red Foxnews Alert.
They have the Jumbo Foxnews Alert. This is usually reserved for terrorist attacks, etc. Homeland Security.
They also have the Jumbo Yellow and Blue Foxnews Alert that flashes colors. This one is Homeland and Foreign Security.

Someone like Rick Folbaum [sic] should pull her aside and spend 24 hours saying 'YOU ARE
NOT THE STORY.'
Don't bother applying this therapy to Whorealdo, he's a terminal stage-4 Tabloidon.

I believe Rita is very intelligent and quite professional - except something happens when she gets too pushy and a bit hyperventilating - and yes, like the other folks on this thread - just too repetative about her 'sources'
TV tells a huge story when you see details of body language, voice, eyes, movement etc... it is not like the stage in a theater.
But as you said, I am sure she is very nice and I hope you get an internship.
