It is a hard call, which is more despicable, the agitation groups that reflect specialized agendas aimed at changing American culture, for perceived special interests, or those dysrons in the media--the poseurs, pretending enlightenment--who feel a compulsive need to jump on every crack-brained cause pushed by those agitation groups, as evidence of their own enlightenment.

The absolute lunacy of trying to deprecate those who would help others escape from a life of what has been perceived as an abomination for thousands of years, will be apparent to anyone who does not have such a compulsion to appear "sophisticated" and "enlightened." But more and more, the dysrons dominate the TV airways. Fortunately, this is a little offset by talk radio, but millions and millions of couch potatoes sit there mesmerized by this idiocy, as well as by the sit-coms and serialized dramas parading the same sick message.

My sister is one of them.

My cousin was one of them. He died from AIDS.

While I don't discount "repressed memories," I'm talking about recollections that are usually remembered all too well.

I watch these shows to be entertained, not to be preached to. I've watched a couple of Tuesday's L& O and have been utterly bored by them. Too bad it has become propaganda.

"When asked when she first realized she was a lesbian, Ellen answered she first knew she was gay when her gym teacher in middle school seduced her."

Um, I'm not sure that actually signifies anything. Might as well say I'm only straight because I had sex in middle school.

It "signifies" that while one side of Ellen's mouth insists gays do not seduce children, the other side of her mouth admits her first sexual encounter occurred when her gay gym teacher seduced her as a child.

..."Might as well say I'm only straight because I had sex in middle school."....

It depends on YOUR reaction to it. If you were abused by someone you TRUST, it could rearrange your outlook on life. If you got a BJ from the local cheerleader, YOU probably didn't think that traumatic. But what if the football coach porked you and said he would kill you if you told? I disagree with the doctor that ALL homo's are sexually abused, but most are. I personally know of 1 that was mentally abused. The point is, their reaction to the abuse is a compulsive obssesive reaction. Some may be alcoholics, some dopers, some want feet or golden showers, it just depends on what self destructive behavior appears to humiliate the victim of the abuse. In short, they want to die from their shame. They ALLLLLL feel like it's their fault they were humiliated. The gays we have today are trying to make things right by saying nothing is wrong. What they need is therapy to convince them it's not of their doing and they should codemn the person that abused them. Alot of times that means they have to admit their family member or a trusted person was at fault. Normally what you find is an enabler that idolizes the person that abused them. Bringing these things into the open is the most difficult thing for these people. It's easier just to take the blame themselves.

I could go on, but you should get the picture from this. Because somebody gets laid when they are 14, it's not the same as someone that has been lied to, abused, and raped, even when they are 20. It depend on how you felt about it. That changes everything. For the record I have 2 in my family. One has hepititis and does drugs, one is in a mental hospital, and the other 4 siblings of the 6, have other problems. One is in prison for drugs, one has been divorced 4 times, and one is an alcoholic we are trying to keep from killing himself. The last of the 4 is my wife. I've been married to her for 32 years and I know all their stories. When people talk about homosexuality, drug abuse, alcoholism, crime, perversion, or sexual abuse, I know what I'm talking about.

Good points. I know that not _all_ gays were abused as children since I know a few myself, but i'm sure that many were.

All homosexuality is caused by early childhood sexual abuse

I would beg to differ, Dr. All one needs to do to invalidate your statement is to find just one homosexual who was not sexually abused. That wouldn't be terribly difficult.

There are many people who embrace the idea that it's possible to become an ex-gay with an almost evangelistic fervor. I happen to think that's just a tad shy of lunacy.

I have no doubt that a person can change their behavior, whether it's from a genuine desire to change, or a matter of opportunistic convenience (Ann Heche), but one cannot change their sexual orientation.

I recently saw on Court TV a man who had undergone a sort of sexual preference lie detector test (I won't give details, just use your imagination). I'd like to see anyone who claims to be a newly heterosexual ex-gay take one of these tests. The results should be interesting.

...one cannot change their orientation.

Of course, based on research, thhis is false. Orientation is similar to other ual disorders where it takes a lot of work to correct. Maybe look at the research then decide rather than basising your opinion on ignorance and/or emotion.

Of course, based on research, thhis [sic] is false.

Show me a single peer-reviewd study from an unbiased source and I'll take a look at it. You're in for a challenge. And please don't cut and paste those links (in a big red font) that scripter and others post here every single day and tell me to "do your own research".

Orientation is similar to other ual [sic] disorders where it takes a lot of work to correct.

For the most part, the only people who see a need for homosexuals to change their orientation are not the homosexuals themselves, but fundamentalists who are personally offended by homosexuality. Why do you expect the world to change for you?

Maybe look at the research then decide rather than basising [sic] your opinion on ignorance and/or emotion.

LOL!! I could very easily say the same to you.

LOL!!! You're too stuck on your want for homosexuality to be something that can't be changed to even consider that it can be changed! I guess all of the ex-homosexuals are liars, huh?

Look up the research for yourself.

Oh, and thanks for being sure to highlight that I had a typo or two. It helps your argument quite a bit. On FR you can simply use italics to do so.

Why on earth would you assume that I have some "want" for homosexuality to be immutable? I couldn't care less whether it is or not, but that's what I happen to believe. I guess when you hang around on a politics board too long, you can't help but see a partisan ulterior motive in everyting.

I guess all of the ex-homosexuals are liars, huh?

I don't know if they're liars, self-deceived, really determined to change, or what. But one thing I doubt they are is straight.

I usually enjoy this show but had to turn it off when I saw where it was going.
Recently we've been watching Karen Sisco but had to turn it off this week.
The story had to do with a guy who left his wife for another man and stole some money from some other gay guy. Meanwhile two gay hitmen (who were as gay as gay can be) were looking for him, once I saw these two characters I turned it off.
I heard from someone at work who watched it that it turned out the guy who was on the run had a sex change operation. Whatever!!

I'm so sorry about your cousin. I lost my cousin in April, he died from an overdose of prescription pills. He was so depressed and confused about his choices in life that he fell apart over the years.
At one time in his life he was a church going Christian who loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. He got into the homosexual lifestyle and stayed there. He wanted out, but it kept calling him, he wanted a wife and kids so bad, but, his freak friends down in Hollywood became the center of his life and soon God was no longer the love of his life nor his dreams of a family.
My cousin would take drugs such as Ativan to numb himself from the pain he was in. He knew that his lifestyle was wrong, but kept going back for more. I talked with him on many occasions, and the stories he would confide in me were so unbelievable, that if it wasn't my cousin telling me I would never believe them. He told me lots of the things he was involved with with his "friends" down in Hollywood and it was pretty scary. This lifestyle isn't just about a guy loving a guy or a woman loving another woman. This lifestyle is sick!! The things these guys would do to my cousin and my cousin would do to them were sick!!
No one will ever convince me that this isn't a destructive lifestyle.
My wife and I also lost a friend to AIDS, and it was probably one of the saddest things to watch as he withered away to nothing!
