Has Dr. Howard Dean forgotten the Hippocratic oath he took? If he had his way, Terri Schiavo would suffer an agonizing death by starvation.
Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and the Legislature should be "embarrassed" for passing a law to prevent the brain-damaged woman from being slowly put to death according to her husband's desire, said the Democrat front-runner, who professed to be "appalled."
"I'm tired of people in the Legislature thinking that they have an M.D. when what they really have is a B.S.," he said this week in Tallahassee.
As usual, self-described feminist groups were silent about yet another politician calling for a woman to be killed according to her husband's wishes ... for the crime of being inconvenient and expensive. Does NOW think Mrs. Schiavo is mere chattel?
Years ago we used to work in nursing homes and can tell you they are full of helpless people dependent on feeding tubes. If Dean wants them all dead he'll be too busy to do anything else.
Let's hope that, should he ever be sworn in as president, he doesn't abandon that oath as well.

So, according to Dean, it is okay to dispose of people who might not have full capacity.
Jeb Bush did the right thing. The family of the brain-damaged woman did not want her to die. Sorry if it is an inconvenience to her husband.
What's next? Parents can starve children on feeding tubes to death when they decide that the child prevents them from taking a vacation to the Bahamas? Using Dean's logic, this is fine.
Great, so if he gets into office, God forbid, anyone who may be on a feeding tube or any other type of assistance to live will be pegged to die if their loved ones find them to be an inconvenience? How lovely.

It's so easy to keep widening that set of people who can be disposed of.

Common misconception. (No pun intended.)

Hey...idea
We can put Sen. Rockefeller on a feeding tube, and according to Dean's logic, we can solve part of the Memogate problem!

So, according to Dean, it is okay to dispose of people who might not have full capacity. Wouldn't that encompass a large percentage of his voters? I would think that would be counterproductive.

LOL...including my liberal friend who cannot make a coherent argument
Wouldn't that mean that Dean wants to dispose of himself?

There are those who want to see Dean get the nomination because he'd be easiest to beat. Personally, I think that's insane...the media does a number, and who knows?...he could even win.
Some long shots just aren't worth the risk.

My son is a third year medical student. He swore to the Hippocratic Oath the day he received his white coat and started Medical School.

The liberal media is a danger that needs to be stopped...we don't want a sicko like Dean in officeWe can't do anything about the media. But, maybe we can convince conservatives that a vote for Dean in the primaries is not a good idea.

Is that a fact? What specialization? What schools? My dermatologist made quite a bit about how the HO is not required, though widely thought to be, and I've never hread otherwise.

So I guess when the head of the School of Medicine gave the 30 minute speech on the meaning of the Hippocratic Oath my son was about to take, he was just kidding? Or, do they have an "Unswearing Ceremony" when they graduate?
