I had some business cards made. Two different kinds. One of them just said Thank You and a brief message. No name, no telephone number, no advertisement. Just a thank you. The other one I put my name and phone number on. Linda has a copy she's going to put up on the Canteen business card page. I give it to the troops that are here TDY and the ones doing the training at Atterbury. I make sure they know if they need anything I'm here. Transportation, food, entertainment. Anything.
The blank ones I put out everywhere. Car windshields when I see vet plates or window stickers for a base somewhere. I have put them in some businesses, but only after I make sure they were doing something for the troops. I got the idea originally from a resteraunt in Alabama, just outside Fort Rucker. I was talking to the owner and I still had my cervical collar on. She had the same surgery one day earlier than I did and wasn't wearing a collar. She asked where I had it done and I told her the VA in Indy. She whipped out one of those cards and gave it to me. I thought it would have McLin's on it somewhere but it didn't. I was impressed.

We had a couple of moose visit the golf course I played on in Maine. Bruswick NAS golf course, it's kind of off the beaten path. It was something to see.

Be careful on the drive home. I keep looking out the window hoping to not see solid taillights. I'd just as soon stay here in the Canteen instead of sitting in traffic. There are 2 lanes and not really an alternative. I turn left out of my work parking lot and drive straight towards the mountains. My first turn is into my neighborhood.

Your post remined my of Outback Steakhouse, last year they flew 10,000 steak dinners with all the fixins to Afghanistan for Christmas. Something folks might want to keep in mind when going out to eat.

HiJinx told me about that. I don't know how I missed that. I'll remember next time I want a steak and don't want to cook it myself. Same for Sears and Golden Corral.

Yatch man, I posted a thread earlier, but you were not pinged to it. Your addy nomenclature is simply to much for my pea sized brain to retain. I will post you a hyper link here. I thought of you when I posted the article originally.

Ping!
Some of you may be interested in this local story from my area.
No ping for Tonk, because I can never remember how to spell your addy!

ms feather, look what I just found in the closet, up on the shelf behind another box. I'll bet they were supposed to be for Halloween. Well, now that we have snow, we will at least be warm.
