Al-Qaeda 'threat to Bush in UK' [They will use cover of anti-war protesters]

AL-Qaeda terrorists using the cover of anti-war protests were a real threat to US President George W Bush's safety during his London visit next week, Britain's most senior policemen have reportedly warned.
"We are not so concerned about some anti-war protester throwing rotten fruit at the President. Our worry now is the more dangerous elements who may be here," a senior Scotland Yard source told The Times newspaper.
The report came a day after anti-war demonstrators accused the Government of blocking their right to protest in central London against Bush's visit from November 18 to 21.
The Stop the War Coalition, the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), and the Muslim Association of Great Britain intend to organise a 100,000-strong march on November 20 around the main government buildings.
But, according to Stop The War coalition, police have said any demonstration through Parliament Square and Whitehall in the heart of the capital would be banned.
"It is an outrage that the most unwelcome guest this country has ever received will be given the freedom of the streets, while a movement that represents majority opinion is denied the right to protest in the area which is the heart of government," Stop the War Coalition convenor Lindsey German said.
"The police claim that the ban is to do with the sessional order that prevents demonstrations when Parliament is sitting.
"But previous demonstrations have gone along this route when Parliament is in session."
White House planners have reportedly pressed British authorities to virtually shut down most of central London in a big security operation during Bush's visit.
A Scotland Yard source quoted today in The Times described the original demands made by the US Secret Service as "totally unacceptable".
"They wanted to turn London into little Washington by closing roads for miles around, hours before the President's motorcade passes, and that is just not acceptable here," the unnamed source said.
Last February, an estimated one million people marched through London in the run-up to the US-led invasion of Iraq, in one of the biggest street protests seen in the capital.
Bush will stay with the Queen as her guest at Buckingham Palace.
He will also have talks with Prime Minister Tony Blair, his staunchest ally in the war in Iraq.
A clear majority of British voters think Bush was wrong on Iraq, according to a poll published yesterday.
A majority of 60 per cent disapproved of the way Bush had dealt with Iraq, compared with the 20 per cent who backed his actions.
Almost half of all those asked, 49 per cent, thought military action in Iraq was wrong compared with 24 per cent polled back in April.

It would become Cheney and the majority leader. Frist would have to take the lead in 2008, because Cheney wouldn't run. He'd be a shoe in.
I wonder if the left could think that far ahead.
(Nah. They can't see past their own genitals. Never mind).

M, we have been following this closely yes? I have read about London today being under the likeliest threat. I have read on other threads and the interpretations of our President being marked for assination in the hidden pics. Now why on earth is he NOT cancelling this trip?! For goodness sake, we've had Freeper's calling the SS about what we've learned, who is not paying attention?!

Just came back to post this. I was raised to put stock in what dreams tell you. You reminded me of a dream I had several months ago. It was one of those dreams where you actually feel physically present and although you may awake, you keep going back to the same dream.
I was on a plane for Britain(never happen). I was puzzled why on earth I was going there. I have no knowledge of London's geography. But I was on a red double-decker a distance from the city. In the distance I seen explosions going off. (At the time I thought I just had Iraq in my subconscious).
We neared what appeared to be a downtown area in a circle. Our bus drove to the right,(right side)on what looked like an American highway entrance lane. I saw a sign that said Trafalgar (sp) Square. About 2-3 blocks away there was a massive explosion in a mall. This dream distressed me so that I posted and queried Freepers if anyone knew of a mall that looked like an old, weathered building, several stories high. Also the Square was not far from Picadilly and I have no clue if these things are all in a geographical area. I do know that several explosions were going on so horrific, I woke myself up and would not go back to sleep.

Good question. The President will not be intimidated by Al Qaeda thugs. I am sure that MI6 & CIA will not allow protesters anywhere near Bush. If something does happen it will be hugh enough to destroy (contaminate) a 5 block diameter, similar to you dream.
I believe that our President is convinved that he is on a devine mission to preserve USA and destroy anyone, any country, any RELIGION that messes with us. ...Even if that means losing his life in the process.
That man has a lot riding on his shoulders and he feels the pain of families of fallen soldiers in this battle against evil, and they will not die in vain. To sum it up, in my opinion, Bush will never cower in the light of danger, and my payers are headed his way.
Remember my dream about the Nuke plant?

The muslims have a visceral hatred of Bush unimaginable to most western folk. They want him out of office, i.e. dead (G-d forbid).
Bush should *NOT* make this appearance.

JustPiper I've asked that question many times after 9/11. I've wondered why he has gone out in such open public places where he knew there was a good chance he might get killed.
I've come to the conclusion that President Bush has a lot of faith in his SS staff for one and two he's got a set of brass balls the size of brahma bull and is giving al-qaeda the virtual finger.

Bush would never let anyone threaten or inimidate him. If he canceled his trip, hid in a corner, altered his life due to the threat of the week; what kind of leader would he be? How could he tell us to live our lives and go about our business if he didn't do the same?
He is a one of a kind leader. We are blessed to have him.
I don't think he has any type of threat to worry about from the Islam religion. They don't want to make him a martyr. That is a respected position in their eyes.
But the antiAmerican crowd, well, they are the ones to worry about.
