[history]
LAPORTE, Ind. -- A truck driver crashed his semitrailer while trying to change clothes as he drove 60 mph on a northern Indiana highway, police said.
Terry Gilmore, 59, of Ohio, told investigators he had set his cruise control so he could change clothes while driving on U.S. 6 Monday night about 25 miles southwest of South Bend, the LaPorte County Sheriff's Department said.

No charges were filed in the crash, police said. They had to close a portion of a road for hours and NO CHARGES WERE FILED? Why not? Was he immune from moral responsibility?
Shalom.

We had a terrible accident in my town a few years ago where somebody (a prominent local personage) killed another prominent local personage when he flew through a stop light at the intersection of a 4-lane road and a 2-lane road. Beside him in his car was a naked prostitute.
Uh, maybe that's "cruise control?" But then again, maybe not.

This has happened to everyone at least once. It didn't say he was getting lucky, just that he was changing clothes.
Of course, if he were having homosexual sex in the cab, then the courts would rule that it wasn't an accident.
Shalom.

Not just truckers.
I have often been in heavy morning rush traffic and watched people change. Men hassling with neck ties and shaving, women actually changing from nightclothes to working clothes. One woman who must have lived near me actually left for work wearing a baby doll nightie and completely stripped, dressed and applied makeup on the way to work. I was usually stuck beside her in traffic at 0 10 mph.

Go figure.

It's time once again to review the winners of the
annual "Stella Awards." The Stella's are named after
81-year-old Stella Liebeck who spilled coffee on
herself and successfully sued McDonald's. That case
inspired the Stella awards for the most frivolous
successful lawsuits in the United Unfortunately, the
most recent lawsuit implicating McDonald's, the teen's
who allege that eating at McDonald's has made them
fat, was filed after the 2002 award voting was closed.
This suit will top the 2003 list without question.
This year's run away winner was Mr. Merv Grazinski of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Grazinski purchased a
brand new 32-foot Winnebago motor home. On his first
trip home, (from an OU football game), having driven
onto the freeway, he set the cruise control at 70 mph
and calmly left the drivers seat to go into the back
and make himself a cup of coffee.
Not surprisingly, the RV left the freeway, crashed and
overturned. Mr. Grazinski sued Winnebago for not
advising him in the owner's manual that he couldn't
actually do this. The jury awarded him $1,750,000
plus a new motor home. The company actually changed
their manuals on the basis of this suit, just in case
there were any other complete morons buying recreation
vehicles.
There are several more. This is the winning entry, there were about 7 more. If you want to see the others, just ask. I will be happy to post them.

I went out to the Grapevine to interview truckers for an article in Truckers Digest years ago, when cell phones were new, to find out how many of them were switching over from CBs. I got shown stuff you wouldn't believe.
One fellow kept a very fine camera on the seat beside him to photograph what people do on the highway. Or what they were willing to show him. He had a whole album full.
