A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

(((( Count your blessings - not your woes ))))
To: All
From the Halls of Montezuma
To the Shores of Tripoli;
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land and sea;
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to claim the title
of United States Marine.
Our flag's unfurled to every breeze
From dawn to setting sun;
We have fought in ev'ry clime and place
Where we could take a gun;
In the snow of far-off Northern lands
And in sunny tropic scenes;
You will find us always on the job--
The United States Marines.
Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

"***REALITY CHECK*** isn't it?" There have been many books written about how most people would (or maybe I should say, "will") react when the services they've lived with all their lives become nonexistent.
It's going to happen. The Holy Bible predicts it.
Most of what I've read thinks most people will go insane, driven to that state of mind by the sudden disappearance of everything from which they've drawn security all their lives.
The lights won't burn, the commodes won't flush, the cars won't run, and life as we know it will cease to exist.
There are a few of us who will take it in stride and live on, not because we're made of stronger stuff but because we have some knowledge on which to lean.
The embryonic idea I have in mind is a place in which to pass on that knowledge.
God and I will make it happen.

We know all too well, because of the period in which we grew up, with WWII and the Korean Conflict, and then the long Cold War against the steady creep of Communism around the world.
TC, Calpernia is bright and savvy, but said she was not told about the Cold War in her school years, and I assume her family did not have military members near her.
She was astonished when I was describing to ladtx my year in South Dakota, the Cuban Missile Crisis commencing just a few days after my daughter was born there.
Tried to decribe the plans I made with Susan, my neighbor and younger than I (all of 28), keeping daily her or my station wagon loaded with essentials and fully gassed, ready to flee Rapid City if Russian missiles were launched.
Knew we could *NOT* survive in the city, our husbands in SAC Security not likely to survive any hostilities, and our families were a continent away.
She'd have kept house and our children, and I'd have chopped the firewood and fished and trapped and hunted....hoped to survive until help came to the remote area I had in mind. It was a summer cabin area, away from roving bands of desperate persons wanting to rob your goods.
She had no idea what President Reagan wrought in corraling the Soviet Menace, and how that altered our lives!

"She had no idea what President Reagan wrought in corraling the Soviet Menace," Yes, Ronald Reagan was on a mission from God to stop the creep of Communism, and he performed admirably.
We now have a new menace (or an old menace that is rearing it's head according to prophesy) that threatens our existence, and there is no human power which can stop this coming conflict.
Radical Islam is infecting the world at an alarming rate as can be witnessed by threads every day on FR.
It's coming. Get ready and get your kids ready.

Hi, Dubya!!
HAPPY BIRTHAY, MARINE!
To: TexasCowboy; Dubya; LadyX
Howdy Marines! Ya got room at the table for a squid?
'Fraid I'm a bit distressed with what I observed in the local Sunday paper.
Page after page after page of ads for "Veteran's Day Sale" and not a single column about the observation of Veteran's Day. Certainly hope things will be different on Monday and Tuesday.
Nonetheless, this old squid will be standing tall to honor our Vets - even you Jarheads. Thanks again for your service to our country. I'm mighty proud and honored to be in your company.

..And in the process of downing those critters, your major purpose was to have something edible to eat - not for the 'fun' of 'killing.' I just fried a whole backstrap over here at Eakers..
I never leaned how to cook horns but the meat was really great!
And yup, I shot Bambi's dad.. ain't that sad?

I try to impart the danger of communism TODAY on our country's well being.The ANSWER bunch,MoveOn,etc.I tell them that they infiltrate our government ,though under different names.If it is in their common interests,the commies and the jihadists work together.Harming the USA is the common interest.

Got one for you to Maggie. Between babysitting the aunt, the upcoming FReep in Greenville and just wanting to sit down and cry for no good reason. It's been a chocolate weekend - and it hasn't helped.
