This thread serves as a place for posting all new general information and references, along with links following Terri's case, plus information on cable news and talk radio shows dealing with the issue, court cases and press releases. This is also the place to post contact information, prayers and general discussion.

If you have something that qualifies as BREAKING NEWS or FRONT PAGE NEWS, please post it on a separate thread in that category in order to give it maximum exposure and then post a link to the article/thread here so that it will be included in the next update of links. Also, if you post links to articles from original sources and there is also a thread on FR, please link to the FR thread. Many original links become corrupt over time and we want to be able to access the information at will.

There was a tremendous amount of information posted on the previous thread. For anyone who hasn't been following the daily threads, links to relevant posts and information from the previous thread are contained in the body of the present one. I have found that very helpful in trying to find something later. You people are doing a spectacular job of getting information out and also in helping to keep all of us updated here. What a great joint effort. This fight, to me, illustrates beautifully what Free Republic is about and what it means to be a FReeper. Way to go FRiends. Keep up the good work!

What do we have here? A lawyer impersonating a doctor -- and getting it dead wrong. He should hire himself to sue himself for malpractice --if he's left any of Terri money to pay himself with, anyway.

Two doctors in this forum were kind enough to review the bone scan, and readily affirmed the opinion of the other three doctors earlier. The bone scan indicates that Terri has suffered severe trauma, consistent with being beaten. (Also consistent with her being in a car wreck [not that she was] -- it's that bad.) Add one more doctor, the one who did the actual scan -- he found trauma and used that word in his summary. It's right on the report, George.

I copied this from a Sunday, June 3, 2001 article in “The Times,” entitled "Fund for medical care for Schiavo dwindles"

“Records show that George Felos, Michael Schiavo’s litigation attorney, has been paid more than $200,000 since 1997. Another Schiavo attorney, Deborah Bushnell, got $27,000. Schiavo himself was reimbursed almost $6,000 for legal costs.

“Other expenses include private aides, security guards hired after the publicity led to a ruckus outside Mrs. Schiavo’s nursing home and a lawyer appointed by a judge to represent Mrs. Schiavo in court.”

“In April 1993, Mrs. Schiavo’s money was valued at $776,254, court records show. By April 1998, it was down to $713,825.

”The money, managed first by Barnett Bank and now South Trust Bank, was invested in blue chip stocks, such as Coca-Cola, Walt Disney and Proctor & Gamble; corporate and U.S. Treasury bonds and a money market account."

A portfolio such as that could have earned $70,000 a year or more. Especially during the mid to late 1990's. It cost $3,000 to $5,000 a month to live in a nursing home.

That is where the info from Post 373 came from, that breaks down the fees paid out of her trust fund through Sept of 2001. It also has some other good information on it, if you haven't seen it before.

This is from the article in Post #423, dated June 3, 2001:

I don't see any $6,000 disbursement to Michael, so maybe the $3,535 note payable payment is part of that? But that still leaves approx $2,500 of MS's reimbursement that doesn't show up as being paid out...

Another thing I thought was noteworthy from the St. Pete Times article mentioned above is this quote:

Last year, the clerk of court's office, which processes those requests, questioned whether Felos should receive money for speaking to the media for hours. The judge did not stop the payments to Felos, who receives $195 an hour and $225 an hour for appellate work.

So Felos was trying to get paid for his time spent spinning to the media. Wonder what other "legal fees" he had that were questionable?

That's standard protocol, routine practice. When a case is closed, the court gets rid of stuff like exhibits so that it has less papers in their ever-growing files. No alarm here.

When I worked at a law firm in Colorado (and I'm sure it's the same case around the country), at the end of a trial/case, the Court sends a notice to the attorneys who filed exhibits with the Court that if they do not pick up their original exhibits (by a certain time) used for that case, the Court will destroy them. They simply don't have room to store everything on closed cases except for the legal documents files, i.e., leadings/affidavits/summons.

I can't think of any case where an attorney would not have his own copy of exhibits filed with the court. And, usually, the attorneys keep everything necessary with regard to that case, perhaps up to 7 years, if not longer. That depends on either on the firm's own desires and/or the state's requirements for how long legal documents must be kept by the attorney.

Just wanted to bring that up, since in the LKL interview, MS said they had no plans to marry; they were happy with things as they were. Just something else in print to show what a lying SOB Michael is.

Yeah, good point. That's another contradiction from what I've read in other articles...that he had "Plans" to marry Jodi, basically, just as soon as Terri was dead.
