[history]
Democratic Sen. Jay Rockefeller, vice chairman of the Intelligence Committee, authorized the memo outlining ways to use classified information to attack President Bush, according to a Senate source reported by Sean Hannity on his radio program. In speeches on the Senate floor, Mr. Rockefeller and Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin and Jon Corzine refused to repudiate the memo categorically. This is unacceptable. America is at war and cannot afford to have its intelligence services further compromised.

but later in the day the chairman made it sound as if he was ready to sit down with the Democrats and smoke the peace pipe.
I knew he'd softball this. When are the Republicans going to realize that we want SPINE in our politicians? We voted them in to straighten things out, not bend over for Democrats and their agendas!

Firing the author is a joke. The author didn't just go off and do this on his own. Hannity reported today that the memo was written on Rockefeller's explicit orders. If so, Rockefeller is the one who needs to be given the boot.

Spine nothing - I want them to show some testicular foritude. Unfortuneately, they have none. Hillary has more of it than First and his merry band of political eunuchs.

The one exception would be Tom Delay, though. He calls 'em as he sees 'em.

If the GOP spineless jerks don't get with it, I'm staying home in 2004. I already have a Hazmat suit to wear to vote for W again. I only had to hold my nose to vote for his daddy in 1992.
Faster please.

Delay is OK..... better than OK, normally.
He has been very quiet of late. I wonder why?

He spoke out on the CBS hatchet job on President Reagan, on Memo-gate -- we need more of him on the Hill.
To: clee1
more of him = more like him...
To: JohnHuang2
Agreed, but that was an
easy thing to speak out about.

I think there is a real problem here for the country in regards to making this an open partisan issue. If the right side of the aisle screams about this, it still damages the committee. Problem is, if the left side of the aisle was honorable towards this country in this regard, Rockafeller would be forced to step down from the committee and someone else be appointed.
I think it is apparent that the Democratic party is continuing to erode, as we see senior/ex members of congress of that party express their disgust with this event. This party, even during this time with the WTC event just two years past, is obviously becoming less interested in the nation and more interested in the power the see for themselves.
The disentegration of the Democratic party is a bad thing, IMHO, and cannot be healthy for this country.

I am hoping that the Republicans are being smarter here than they are being given credit for. They are consistently taking the high road, while the dims mud wrestle in the gutter. The message is getting out on talk radio and the internet, making the dems look like treasonous out of control degenerates.

Does anyone remember that several months ago Jay Rockefeller appeared on Fox News Sunday and was then attacked by Democrats for not being more anti-Bush?
IMHO, Jay Rockefeller was "taken into the woodshed" after this event by Hillary's forces in the party (remember, she is now the head of the Democratic Senate Policy Committee or some such), and told to "ship up or ship out."
IMHO, Rockefeller commissioned the staff member to write this memo on the "suggestion" of someone higher up in the Democratic Senate food chain (although you cannot get more low down than this person!).

You are giving Roberts entirely too much credit. To Hell with Rockefeller, the mentally challenged Republican should be fired for the betterment of the Republican Party and the nation itself.
