Senior Senate Republicans said yesterday that unless Democrats disavow a plot to use the traditionally nonpartisan intelligence committee to wage political attacks on the Bush administration, they would consider taking away Democrats' power-sharing privileges.

Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, said that if Democrats expect cooperation from the White House in the investigation of intelligence failures that preceded the war in Iraq, "they've got to stop the politics."

I agree......everytime a GOP Senator is on either the radio or TV they PRAISE the Democrats on the Intelligence committee and seems to be BEGGING them to offer up a scapegoat (staffer) to fire so "WE CAN ALL JUST GET ALONG AGAIN".....I have nothing but contempt for the Dims who could care less about our WAR effort or the lives of our troops in IRAQ and ANGER for the GOP for allowing them to get by with it.

I just don't get it. If they went after the Dims' policy aggressively, they'd have a makority of the people on their side. I can't understand their reticence to engage.

"They show the Democrats respect when they should not and don't get it in return."

The democrats aren't interested in respect. They are interested in power. That is what they worship, crave and scheme for. They will say whatever it takes to get it. Principles don't mean anything to them. Power means everything to them.

Those who say the democrats don't have vision are wrong. Their vision is summed up by what they are quest: Power!

Regards,

TS

When are the Repubicans in the Senate and elsewhere going to realize that the Dems are the enemy and must be treated as such? One only had to watch the shameless display by Rep. Stark on CNBC (see Post) to know that the overtures extended by the Republicans is, at best, abject futility and, at worse, a sign of weakness inviting more reprehensible activities.

True, but they have no respect for anyone on the way to their power, whereas Republicans or conservatives in general probably tend to have more ethical standards and Godly beliefs (such as treat others as you would want to be treat).

So I agree about how things are in the end:
I'm just figuring the reason for Republican lack of response or action is they are being too civilized with uncivilized beasts that are Democrat politicians. They have to have the epiphany once and for all about the way things are. Perhaps they are looking for traditional behavior, but the other side isn't playing by civilized rules.

They know it wasn't written by a staffer,

Exactly, this also explains Rockefeller’s comments below. He isn’t insisting on an investigation because any thorough investigation would point right at him and possibly all the ‘Rats on the committee.

Democrats also want to know where the memo came from and have called for an investigation into how the document was leaked to the press. Mr. Rockefeller, however, was less enthusiastic about such a move. "I'm not there yet,"

"He probably doesn't know either."

He's stalling. Can you say, "limited modified hangout"? I knew that you could.

"limited modified hangout"?

Nixon era! Along with "What did he know, and when did he stop knowing it?"

Quite a few colorful additions to the political lexicon back then...

The "plumbers," "Deep Throat," the "Saturday night massacre," the "18-1/2 minute gap," "twisting slowly, slowly in the wind," etc.

I think the "modified limited hangout" was Ehrlichman's creation.

The DemocRATS are in their death throes as a viable party.

Breaking the far left major media elite's filter on information has them in panic mode.
Talk radio, Fox News, and the internet have created an incredible renaissance in this country... a true awakening. Turning the electorate to the right was like turning the Titanic...
First, the momentum had to be stopped.

It happened in 1994, triggered by "Hillary Care"... "the Clinton Effect"... fueled sleaze, the LIBERAL "Titanic" was finally turned.

Coupling revulsion with knowledge and truth from the above "NEW" media sources has the "RAT" party in total free fall. The exposed treasonous memo drafted by the Democrats on the intelligence committee is an indication of their terminal situation.

"IT'S ALMOST MORNING IN AMERICA!" Can't you feel it?

As an aside, my wife's cousin, Mike Scott, successfully defended Richard Kleindienst on perjury charges in '81, grilling none other than then Arizona governor Bruce Babbitt on the stand.

Do you think we've broken their media monopoly? Do you think? Oh thank you Rush, thank you Drudge, thank you Jim Robinson.

Even if they wiggle out of this we still now can rub their noses in it every time they come up with some whacked out attack.... " excuse me senator ... are you reading straight from a memo?" We can neutralize their main game.

Contact your Senators and Congresscritters! This latest Dem treachery cannot stand! Tell them that Dems cannot be trusted with classified info.

I have included Bonds office becuase I have talked with them the most. Bond, being on the Intel committee, is taking the first steps, but we need to keep the pressure on...

Mark my word...if the pubies hunt this dog down it will be a major blow to the dems and will render them useless as they have bluffed their last hand in the 2004 election. Economy issue is dead along with every other issue the dems have tried to raise going back to Enron. Dems have losted 3 more gov. chairs not to mention the southern male, pickup driving red necks (confederate flag or not). Southern dems will bolt if Deanie babby wins the election because he has no chance or national appeal. Interject the federal judge filibusters with the new judicial assalt on Partial Birth Abortion legistlature, I think 2004 will prove to be a big moment in conservative realignment of two of the three branches. Then we start cleaning out the court system.

He grilled that snake Babbitt?

He did indeed. Mike fought for his clients like a junkyard dog. He was also the guy who successfully defended Governor Evan Mecham from being railroaded in Superior Court.
