Okay, this is a vanity--my first and only.
That said, I want Rockefeller to resign, and I want to see Freeper opinions on this. I think the memo he claimed a staffer wrote is at LEAST a first cousin to treason, as Zell Miller said, and I am furious that the story isn't getting more traction.
This isn't just another example of business as usual in DC, this is a case of Democrats using intelligence vital to our war effort in Iraq as a tool to win an election against President Bush next year, no matter the cost in human lives!
The author of the memo should resign. Rockefeller, if he DIDN't write it, should disavow it, and SO SHOULD EVERY OTHER DEMOCRAT ON THE COMMITTEE, publicly!
We can't let the media carry the water on this one--they won't! We can't let the Senate carry the water on this one--they won't!
We the people have to insist that there is NO place for this kind of partisanship in this committee at this time--and Rockefeller must resign.
Honey, this is an old thread from 2003, that some spammer resurrected for some unknown reason. Of COURSE the link is broken, it was a link to an online poll at FoxNews over a year ago.
;-D
The original reason for the thread is the memo that Rockefeller wrote for Dem members of the Sen. Select Committee on intelligence, to selectively declassify and use certain intelligence information to embarrass President Bush during his re-election campaign.
There was HUGE outrage over it at the time, Rockefeller claimed a "staffer" wrote the memo, yada yada, and it all went away. Meanwhile, the Dems claimed outrage that some Republicans were able to read some of their computer memos -- in spite of the fact that they weren't password protected, were just out there for everyone to see...
At this point, the story is over, although I am still angry and like Zell Miller said at the time, "If this is not treason, it is a near cousin."
In other words, the vanity is past it's "Use By" date, but still important to me, as history.
See my reply to another poster below...
I didn't start this up again, somebody spammed this old thread. I have the spam message (several pages long, LOL!) on my comments page, but believe me, it's incoherent. I hit abuse, and the mods pulled it, thank the good Lord.
The dems will probably get away with it.
I think they already did. This thread was originally written in November 2003.
