Okay, this is a vanity--my first and only.
That said, I want Rockefeller to resign, and I want to see Freeper opinions on this. I think the memo he claimed a staffer wrote is at LEAST a first cousin to treason, as Zell Miller said, and I am furious that the story isn't getting more traction.
This isn't just another example of business as usual in DC, this is a case of Democrats using intelligence vital to our war effort in Iraq as a tool to win an election against President Bush next year, no matter the cost in human lives!
The author of the memo should resign. Rockefeller, if he DIDN't write it, should disavow it, and SO SHOULD EVERY OTHER DEMOCRAT ON THE COMMITTEE, publicly!
We can't let the media carry the water on this one--they won't! We can't let the Senate carry the water on this one--they won't!
We the people have to insist that there is NO place for this kind of partisanship in this committee at this time--and Rockefeller must resign.

Well, hello! Freepmail me with your screen name, there, if you don't mind...I recall those days well...(unless it was Baynative there, in that case, I forgot! ;-D)
I like your ideas, and I'm still bumping this thread because I want this SCANDAL to stay alive. I'm also going to other threads on this scandal and bumping them for anyone who might have missed them.
I'm outraged! I'm not done being angry! I've emailed everyone I know, and the senators, too. Somebody put up Rockefeller's fax number somewhere, and I've misplaced it, if you run across it, please repost it here.
Thanks again for the nice hello. I notice that this issue is getting the same reaction over at L.dot. But WE are doing something, here! I'm so proud of Freepers...

MEMOGATE
Democrats have made a conscious choice to elevate their personal political ambitions over accomplishing the important task of managing our "intelligence" capability.
I guess to them National Security is enhanced just by the fact of democrat poitical control. Access to accurate, timely "intel" is secondary.
Apparently to democrats the greatest risk to National Security is the republican majority

Well said! Now send that to Senator Roberts. It will let him know he'd BETTER do something. And it wouldn't hurt to send it to FoxNews, too.

I will certanly do as you've suggested, but I am willing to do more if it becomes necessary at some personal sacrifice. IF anybody plans any such demonstration where physical presence is needed, count me in, BIG TIME!

Amazing, and THANK YOU!

Here is my fax to Sen. Rockefeller's office... and the fax made it through just now...
Senator Rockefeller,
Notice I didnt say Honorable
That is because what you are doing in the intelligence committee is despicable, and poisonous to our national debate. And for that reason you must first disavow the Democrat strategy as lined out in the memo from your office, and then you must resign your post on the intelligence committee, immediately.
You know, down in your innermost being, that if any Republican was caught red-handed with such a damndable device, you would ride them not only out of their Honored position but out of the Senate.
Furthermore for you to try to rationalize this thing makes you look not just malevolent, but unabashedly malevolent; Which, exposes you as nothing more than an ideologue whose only interest is to maintain political power at any cost, putting your own political interest ahead of that of the Nation; Which, in effect, goes to weaken and even denigrate our national security; Which, if attributed to a Republican would likely castigate him as having committed an act of treason, if not brought up on charges of treason.
I therefore demand you step down from your position on the intelligence committee, and disavow this devilish strategy.
A conscientious citizen of the United States of America, and voter.
William D. Guthrie

Click on that person's profile and take a look at his/her previous posts. On second thought, don't. :D

At least the post was removed. That was bizarre--after all this time, to resurrect the thread with that strange post!
Sure brings back memories, to read back over the thread...

Your link is broken, and you failed to mention exactly WHY he should resign in anything you posted. Before posting a vanity at least to some planning on what you are gonna say, and have your bases covered.
I give it a 3.

He needs to be held responsible! And Sandypants Berger.
Let's please not forget him!
