Pvt. Jessica Lynch
Jessica Lynch was brutally raped by her Iraqi captors. That is the shocking revelation in "I Am a Soldier, Too," the much-anticipated authorized biography of the former POW. A copy of the book was obtained by The Daily News yesterday.
Best selling author Rick Bragg tells Lynch's story for her, often using her own words. Thankfully, she has no memory of the rape.
"Jessi lost three hours," Bragg wrote. "She lost them in the snapping bones, in the crash of the Humvee, in the torment her enemies inflicted on her after she was pulled from it."

To tell you the truth, the Jessica Lynch story never moved me. I guess I am a cynic. I was disappointed that morning that the "big announcement" turned out to be a moral boosting fluff piece from the Army brass. I was hoping they had found a pile of goo with Saddam's DNA in it. This story just seemed like hype from day one.

All rape is violence, but, without in any way condoning or lessening the crime, there can be degrees of brutality in it. There is a difference, for example, between the rapist who obtains compliance by threats of harm, but is physically gentle, and the one who simply beats his victim into helplessness before forcing himself upon the victim roughly.

Well, lets all be really blase! I suppose the systematic torture, rape and killing of women in Iraq was all hype as well? I guess there is no connection between how a country treats POWs and how it treats it's own citizens? All hype and propaganda to you - I have the highest regard for Lynch and her will to serve. That is no hype.
Okay, let's hear more from all of you who have had nothing but unkind things to say about Jessica.
