[history]
It is a full year before next year's national elections, and Democrats are already up to dirty tricks. On air yesterday, commentator Sean Hannity made public a leaked memorandum that detailed a Democratic plan to use classified intelligence information to attack President Bush politically. The memo suggested that Democrats "pull the majority along as far as we can on issues that may lead to major new disclosures" and then "pull the trigger" against the administration. West Virginia's Jay Rockefeller, the ranking member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, admitted that the memo was written by his staff, but downplayed its importance. The scandal will be difficult to cover up.

Great article, agreed on all points, although if there -isn't- anything illegal about this, it should be.

The only thing worse than the democrats' sleazy behavior is the absolute COWARDICE the republicans are displaying regarding this matter.
ALL our leaders are failing us...but at least we expect treason from the democrats. Mr. Franklin, does it bother you that we no longer wish to keep our republic?

Jay Rockefeller should resign from the Senate Select Intelligence Committee because of this and there probably should be a Congressional investigation to expose the other culpable parties.
To: Captainpaintball
Not only are the Republicans cowards, they will immediately trust the rats all over again, and probably give them the info mentioned in the memo.

Time to find out who the ringleader is, and if the "draft" went any further.

Sean more than implied, that Jay was behind it. It's probably one( if not more ) of his staffers, who wrote it up AND sent it out.
To: nopardons
Somehow, I don't believe he was the one who dreamed this up.
There are more devious minds behind this, imo.
To: kattracks
Dashole and Saint Hitlery! come to mind, but, Jay put it in motion.

I tend to agree with you. Rockefeller is the dem's ranking member on the SIC, and I would think all ideas go to him from the other members. And that is a rich field of devious, hardcore left-wing GD democrat senators.

The senator on H&C tonight indicated it had to come from above Rockefeller because he claimed Rockefeller had not been partisan in the past.
Yet, Rockefeller has been on all the shows calling Bush a liar.
No classified information from the White House please - the Senate Intelligence Committee is not secure, is not performing its duties and therefore is to be bypassed.
As a taxpayer - I do not intend to pay tax money to senators waging out and out war against this president.
And - I resent the Republican senators comments to the effect - it is up to Democrat leadership to handle and we know they will do nothing.
So, it is then their view that life goes on - and the goal has now become chase Bush around the office, keep him tied up proving he did or did not do something and forget about protecting the country.
Therefore, this is an abuse of authority, tax funds and negates the entire committee.

You're forgetting about the New Tone. The rats will get whatever they ask for.
To: Jeff Chandler
Well - if they do - then this committee becomes merely a witch hunt tool of the Democrat Party to use taxpayer money to destroy a sitting president.
As long as we all rant and rave and then say - well, you know, there is nothing we can do, nothing will get done.
Time for these Republicans to stand up and defend the purposes of this committee, defend this president from sabotage from DOMESTIC enemies and let Daschle/Hillary,et al know that they will not destroy this government process.
If they don't clean this mess up - the committee is thereby invalid, is unacceptable to receive classified information and should be disbanded.

Really, what wouldn't today's Democratic party do for power.
Quick, name a Republican they actually liked. This has nothing to do with George Bush and everything to do with the naked ambition of the Left.

If a Republican senator did this, there would be mass hysteria in the media. The dims got away with this crap for 50 years, and the resulting corruption is destroying their party.
Who votes for this inherited wealth weinie Rockefeller anyhow?
