Dear Senator Roberts,
As a lifelong Republican, I am OUTRAGED at the unwillingness of Republican Senators, the MAJORITY party, to take on the Democrat party on the Democrat memo outlining a political strategy to use the power and resources of the Senate Intelligence Committee as a political tool against our President, and the leader of our party.
It is of utmost importance that the Senate Intelligence Committee be impartial and bi-partisan because you deal with the security of American citizens. Senator Rockefeller and Senator Durbin, by their response to the discovery of this disgusting memo, have indicated they do not plan to act in a non-partisan manner in determining whether our nation's pre-9/11 intelligence was flawed. In fact, they seem to want to turn the smoking gun around and face it your way by implying the memo was possibly obtained in a break-in, thus suggesting we have another Watergate-type scandal.
If you do not call for an investigation by the Ethics Committee or ask Senator Rockefeller to resign from the Senate Intelligence committee, it won't be long before they'll be asking for an investigation of YOU and asking YOU to step down.
I support President Bush, his cabinet members and the Grand Old Party. If the majority party doesn't act like one, particularly on this issue (there are many, many others), it'll be the Dead Old Party in a country eventually ruled by a dictator.
Don't let this one slip under the table, Senator Roberts. You can still be one of the "nice, honorable Republicans" and be adamant and forceful at the same time. (President Reagan was adept at this.) We, The People, elected you to represent us. Please do it.
Respectfully,
I didn't use my sparkly signature in the fax, of course. :o)
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent miscellaneous ping list.
Dear Senator Roberts:
I want you to know that I am extremely upset with your conduct and the conduct of your committee and the Republican Party with regard to the recent publication of the Democrat Party's Memo outlining how they plan to subvert the work of the Intelligence Committee for political gain.
You personally have been painted in this Memo as a weak leader of the majority party that can be manipulated by the Democrats to help them reach their goal of unseating Bush in 2004. Based on your performance in last two days I am afraid I have to agree with them.
You and your party look weak and undisciplined when you respond to an extreme ethics violation and probable security violation by the Democrats by setting on your hands and making new deals with Senator Rockefeller.
Don't you get it? Men are dying in Iraq while the Democrats are plotting and scheming to weaken the U.S. and the Iraqis people who are struggling to put Democracy in place in their country. You simply cannot let this episode pass without making the Democrats pay a political price for their actions including the resignation of Rockefeller from your committee if not the Senate.
Dear Senator Frist,
Democratic members and the DNC using a memo outlining a political strategy to use the power and resources of the Committee as a political tool against our President, and the leader of our party have defiled the Senate Intelligence Committee. In doing so they have aided and abetted our enemies; this is nothing short of treason; sedition or both. We are at war and these politicians think of no one but themselves and the coming election. These are NOT people we want in power, they have proven that!
What on earth must our men and women in uniform think they are fighting with their lives so these nincompoops can play these dangerous games. Relieve those on the Intelligence Committee responsible for this. All these outrageous slams against President Bush, Don Rumsfeld and our efforts in Iraq which means our precious Military, has got to be stopped...those lies are not politics as usual it is the sounds of a dieing party that will say or do anything to gain power.
You have a job to do and it isnt placating membership, especially when some of those members are using traitorous tactics. Ask yourself what if a Republican had done this? Then behave in the same manner
Sincerely
Keep their feet to the fire Freepers!!!
