I think they might give one to Cash out of respect, but this looks like a fine field of candidates this year - no Shania, no Faith Hill, no Keith Urban.

Any predictions?
To: RabidBartender
Go to cmt.com for further details. If Toby Keith fails to get Entertainer of the Year, something is very wrong. Saw him recently in concert and he does far more than stand there and sing--he entertains. Imagine that.

Any predictions? A lack of award(s) for the Dixie Chicks.

Here's a vote for my friend Paul Franklin for musician of the year. He's a great guy and an amazingly talented musician.
Even if you don't like pedal steel guitar, or if you think it's just a 'niche' instrument, check out www.paul-franklin.com and listen to his jukebox. He pretty much put the niche instrument thing to rest when he toured with Mark Knopfler for a year or two.

What's wrong with Keith Urban? I like his stuff. And the fact that he put Niki Taylor in one of his videos is a huge plus, as far as I'm concerned. :)

I agree. I went to the Toby Keith concert here in Albuquerque this year. Best concert I've ever been to.

The best music video should be "Celebrity", it's hilarious.
To: CougarGA7
His Shock 'N Y'all albumn came out yesterday and includes his bus songs (Taliban song, I'll Never Smoke Weed with Willie Again) among others. Is this the concert you saw?
He's at the top of my entertainment list too.

Yeah, he did his bus songs. I'm glad he decided to release them on an album. I didn't realize that Shock'N Y'all was being released today. I'll have to pick it up on the way home.

My Picks:
Entertainer of the Year:
Toby Keith - Lots of exposure from the feud, and Country music radio has taken his side.
Male Vocalist of the Year:
Toby Keith
Female Vocalist of the Year:
Terri Clark
Horizon Award:
Darryl Worley - This is a tough one because Allan, Nichols, & Shelton all had good years
Vocal Group of the Year:
Rascal Flatts - Sorry Chicks, these guys "melt" the competition
Vocal Duo of the Year:
Brooks & Dunn - Red Dirt Road is a great song
Single of the Year:
"Three Wooden Crosses", Randy Travis
Album of the Year:
"Man With A Memory", Joe Nichols - If the Chicks or Toby Keith win this award, it will be seen a as a "victory" over the other. Best for the CMAs to remain neutral.
Song of the Year:
"Beer For My Horses", Toby Keith & Willie Nelson - Only because it is on the radio every 20 minutes. Great song.
Vocal Event of the Year:
"Beer For My Horses", Toby Keith & Willie Nelson - Please, let us not embrace Sheryl Crow into the folds of country music. "Truth About Men" is hilarious, but didn't get the airplay.
Musician of the Year:
Randy Scruggs - I like his guitar
Music Video of the Year:
"Celebrity", Brad Paisley - C'mon, this has to win ONE award.

Good choices. I would like to see Alabama win one more, they were great in concert this summer. And I still think that Brad Paisley is the best true country singer out there right now, he definetly deserves vocalist of the year.
To: CollegeRepublican
I picked the "Hurt" video, but I also loved "Celebrity". I just expect Johnny Cash to win a couple of awards tonight.

I hope they're not out by the time I get off work.

We were there early; the sign said "Advertised Special," so I expect they'll go fast, at least around here. I'm going to go play it now while I fix lunch!
