And what is untrue about that statment?Because there are people, including myself, that think prohibitions on medical pot are retarded and could care less about a hedonistic drug culture. I get laid enough that I don't need the culture promoting it.

I'll give you a hint his intials are GS and he is a big socialist one worlder and a very good friend of Hillary.
The answer is George Soros
Look you can put your head in the sand all you want, but all I'm doing is presenting a politcal fact. If you don't like that fact, fine, but don't call me a "mean spirited jerk" for presenting that fact.

Does marijuana help people with MS?I would think so, if it helps with pain. I have an Aunt with MS and she is in pain all of the time.

And who is the Daddy Warbucks of the ONDCP? I'll give you a hint, they're one of the biggest gun-grabbing groups in the country who consistently advocate socialized medicine and their initials are RWJF.
The answer is the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

I never did. I think you're a good-spirited jerk. ;-)

Retired from the navy. He wore his real uniform at the end of some TV drama and he could still fit into the uniform.

How does it feel that your pet issue, drug legalization is bank rolled by a Socialist, UN loving, gun grabbing, free needle give away socialized medicine, Hillary friend.

Where'd you get that? Go back to my 1st post on the subject and you'll see I stated naturally occuring drugs shoud be legalized.
Personally, I don't drink or use drugs, and hold users of both in the same light, but this drug war has been no better than Prohibition.
To: philman_36
Oh!
This thread start with Montel, but the "Drug War" is one of those subjects that really rile me.
I neither use or want the stuff, but it seems the number of lives destroyed by this war has been equal to the number of live destroyed by the drugs themselves.
The "War on Drugs" has been effective in building a prison industry, making the streets less safe, and casting a dark shadow over the courts.

Oh!
And there you go thinking I was "getting on ya"...I'm so misunderstood. {;^)

I could throw some more logs on the fire, buuuuuut...don't want to ruin the perfectly good bonfire you've got going there.
C ya.

Why would anyone carry illegal drugs into the airport? That was the first thing I was thinking. How clueless do you have to be to do this? This ranks with Harry Connick, Jr. trying to bring a gun aboard a plane.

Even if it doesn't, you can bet that is the excuse he will use.

I thought you said my pet issue was guns. Remember, I'm willing to give Bush a pass on the Federal Drug War and still vote for him, but if by the 2% chance he signs the Assault Weapons Ban, well......that's a different story.

Geez, talk about ad hominems. You probably don't know thing one about why this George Soros fellow supports drug law reform yet you attack and attack his character as well as his other beliefs which seem entirely irrelevant to his donations to drug law reform groups. This is what the head drug warriors do, they try to make it look like the whole drug law reform movement is the product of three or four evil billionaires hell bent on turning the planet into one giant Sodom and Gomorrah. The fact of the matter is that the overwhelming majority of Americans believe the drug war is a failure. Most dont know what to do about it but a growing minority are pushing for reform of our laws. A growing number of these reformers believe that some form of legalization is the answer. Few want to pump money into such a controversial movement, and people like Soros just happen to be among the few with big bucks who are willing to stick their necks out on the line for what they believe in.

The fact of the matter is that the overwhelming majority of Americans believe the drug war is a failure Then why did the 3 major pro-drug state intiatives(AZ, NV, and OH) in Novemeber 2002(financed by the Daddy Warbucks of the pro-drug movement(George Soros)) all go down to big defeats.
If your above italicized passage was true, they would have been big victories.
But what the hey, make yorself feel good by making general statements that have no basis in truth. I guess it does wonders for your self-esteem.

I don't have time to look up all the stats, but I Googled up an article talking about a survey the Pew Research Center did, and I've seen several others like it.
"Good News, Bad News, Unbelievable News
by James W. Harris
Three-Fourths of Americans Say: Drug War is a Failure
An astonishing 74% of Americans say the U.S. is losing the
War on Drugs.
Two-thirds believe Latin American nations will never be able
to stop the flow of drugs into the U.S.
And 73% favor making medical marijuana available by
prescription.
These results are from a poll conducted in mid-February 2001
by the respected Pew Research Center for the People and the
Press, released in late March."
_____________
Note, what I didn't say and what these statistics don't show is that the majority of people are for legalizing drugs. They just don't believe the drug war is working. And I've seen several surveys like this. The last one I saw if I recall correctly had over 80% of the people saying they don't think the drug war is working.
So, whether drug legalization or other reform initiatives failed does not mean that most people believe the drug war is a success. It only means that people disagreed with the particular initiatives. As usual, your logic is flawed.

Does marijuana help people with MS? Yes it does. There are medical conditions that it does help. I wish it were legal for those patients. Suffering is suffering. I wouldn't want a loved one of mine to suffer when there is help out there. I wish our Government would just legalize it for these patients. From MS, to Arthritis, Aids, Cancer.. dying patients.. there are so many people who could benefit from this as a medicine.
I know when I worked hospice.. some of my families told me they used it. I know it helped them. Then in talking to people as I worked in medicine I found out patients would use it for pain or nausea control, for MS and for Arthritis or Aids, during Chemo for Cancer. I wish to God it were legal. I mean it. I really do.

"Does marijuana help people with MS?"
Supposed to. I know a really nice guy that has MS. I say let him smoke the stuff if it makes him feel better. He does not have much time left.
