I think mortars are the very short wide barreled tube that the operators drop the charge down the "pipe" (about 2 ft long)and are limited by distance but can be adjusted to find the intended target.

Pro-US is a relative term in Iraq. That's how I used it-- loosely.

What is it with this Peterson case? I would guess that 99.9% of the populations does not know him or his deceased wife. Why oh why is this case any different than the hundreds (thousands?) of murders that happen everywhere every year? Why are we constantly subjected to the details of it?

Mortar fire into a city sounds like someone wants to spook the population more than kill people.

Newsflash! Read all about it!

Small, weak explosions were just heard in the southwestern corner of Oklahoma. Further details as they become available.

"This is truly becoming a nightmare for us and the good Iraquis. We must do something differently."

Agreed...they can start by cutting this court-martial crap of our soldier who was impolite.

More like spook Americans

First they got the UN to leave

Then it was the Red Cross

Now they are working on Americans

Round is propelled upwards. It does not have the range of normal artillery shell, but it does not scream in on the target. There is very little warning. Troops will know when the round lands and explodes. Very deadly tactical weapon because it is very portable. Only disadvantage is range and speed which the round takes to hit target. Easy to detect with anti artillery radar.

Mortar fire is realtively easy to locate for counter-battery or air-to-surface weapons. Maybe we can "get some" this time, unless they just sent up a few rounds and dittied out.

Would your map revision be before or after our troops were home. What would you do with the Christians currently residing in the Middle East or would that be there tough luck to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Boy, the Surrender-crats sure are having a topsy-turvy week. I bet this strategic blow by Iraqi "freedom fighters" almost makes up for that "lousy" news about the economic rebound. More opportunity to convince the public that the only alternative is to run and hide behind in-effective UN appeasement-mongers. Funny how their goals seem to mesh with Saddam's.

"Fixing it is going to tick off the relatively few nutjobs."

This is the heart of the problem with Islam, they are all nutjobs. Apart from Islam, the only other folks who believe they are going to die and have eternal climax with 72 merry virgins are all locked up in the Ha Ha House.
