11 January 2004-- The Department of Homeland Security lowered the national color-coded advisory level to yellow or "elevated" last week after the holidays passed without incident and the amount of specific threat information lowered to manageable levels. By his own remarks, Secretary Ridge all but openly criticized the effectiveness of the color-coded system, noting that various geographical areas of the country will remain on "high" alert and certain public and private entities will do the same. We have verified that private couriers (DHL, FedEx, UPS) were recently advised by the Department of Homeland Security to step up the security of their physical assets to unprecedented levels. Law enforcement agencies in New York, DC, Las Vegas, and Chicago were also advised to maintain their high alert levels. The nations nuclear power plants also remain at high alert levels based on the directives from the Department of Homeland Security, and cruise lines have recently been alerted to possible attacks and hijackings while at sea. Accordingly, the threat is far from over, and is highly specific, something the color coded alert system cannot properly or effectively address in its current state.

Still, highest officials in the Bush administration continue to regard Moscow as a close friend and indispensable ally in the war on terror.

America must ask if we can afford such an ally. Can we afford a "partner" in the war on terror who appears to be in sympathy with those who hate us?

It is time to re-examine our approach to the Moscow elite, and reject trust as a dangerous gamble, a threat to our national safety.

Yes, it's weird. I was just trying to understand, or get some sort of grip on what AQ would be trying, in order to divide US into 3 different parts. Reaching.

Interesting add on to this. I need to be criptic though.

I just spent the afternoon with Russians from Russia (meaning, not born here).

They do not think the Russian government is supporting Arabs. Seems the general opinion is an cultural hate for Arabs. Not just the religion.

As for black market? General opinion is yes, if weapons were sold, it was not done through government ok, only black market for money.

Is this absolute? I don't know. How valid is this information? I fully trust the source; but have no idea if it is fact.

We're really both right. An aircraft flying a "normal" course and altitude will almost always show up on radar over developed or semi-developed areas. But just like in military operations, and I assume terrorists know this, there are ways to evade the coverage.

And FWIW, these same people did not have a high regard for anyone in the Ukraine. That is referencing our previous discussion.

Folks, we are being set up for the big fall. I really think that 9/11 was just a probing attack. If that WND report is even partly true, we are going to be in a world of s***.

FEMA is ready!

NEWSMAX 7/02- FEMA plans to create emergency, makeshift cities that could house hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans who may have to flee their urban homes if their cities are attacked. Ominously, FEMA has been given a deadline of having the cities ready to go by January 2003 – in about six months.

I think three parts refers to the origin of the thread: Threats to NY, Wash,D.C. and L.A. We would have to divide our resources 3 ways from east coast to west coast in order to meet the challenge. NY and LA are economic centers and commerce centers one on each coast, and DC is the seat of govt. Somehow, from earlier threats Chicago is not any longer on the radar screen for alerts.

That URL is the same one that had the picture of EOM and friends yesterday. Methinks it has been hacked. There is no way a devout Islamic fundamentalist is going to declare "Jihad is crap". It is a duty to them.

Does anybody know what other 8 cities remain on elevated alert?

I guess Chicago is one, maybe Vegas? With 8,000 gallons of fuel missing, perhaps Arizona?
